Lap times may be important to you and a small percentage of other performance car oriented people but the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times are far and away the most looked for and quoted metrics for these kind of cars. This is by no means any kind of secret and there is absolutely no reason to act as if this is not true.

It's "interesting"? "Lap times" may always be a consideration to you personally but they are not any kind of deal breaker for the overwhelming majority of people who actually purchase this stuff. Hell there is a sig percentage of guys who could care less about any stopwatch evaluation as they just buy a 911 to have one for one of many reasons.

Fastest 0-60 times possible on street, with normal street tires:
Further explanation:
Theoretically, for a road car that transfers all its acceleration to the ground through the wheels (not a rocket engine), the fastest time for 0–60 would be the fastest time from 60–0 while braking with ABS. From the above video, that theoretical time works out to be about 2.05 sec.
...and the Musk/Tesla “plaid” result is bogus (no surprise):

Agreed.... however, Hellcats are TERRIBLE for 0-60 times. They are only good for Supercharger whine and burnouts. A base 992 would smoke a Hellcat 0-60 with nearly half the HP.

The Porsche 911 is, after all, one of the premier sports cars in the world...and has been for many decades.
”Sports cars” are much more than just straight line quickness. If that were the case, then Tesla “plaid” (or whatever it’s called) would be the king of the hill. But it isn’t. Being quick is just one important attribute of a sports car.
Being able to take tight corners at high speeds, corner after corner all day long, with extreme confidence is another critical component of a true sports car. Or having brakes that can decelerate from 150 mph, in a blink of an eye, with little to no fading, is, well, very important to the well being of the driver. Finally, having a car that one can literally abuse on the track, for hours, and not be left waiting for a tow truck, is one of those traits that sets Porsche apart from those that aspire to be a Porsche: A car that is exceedingly capable in any driving situation, while maintaining the ruggedness/dependability that race car drivers have come to depend on.

Is this for real? A statement does not equate to a “lecture”. Do you even know what “lecturing is”?

992S and the C8 clock in the high 2s 0-60, both with very low 11s 1/4 miles which is just awesome as many, many, sports/performance guys know.
What do these cars do at the "Ring", VIR, etc.? A few guys do and can tell you without a Google search and for every one of them there are 500 car guys who know the the straight line stuff. That is reality.

Yes. On Rennlist one of the most famous enthusiasts forums in the world. It is full of people (99%?) who already know that sports cars are more than straight line performance. They call that "tautology".
Do I know what a lecture is? LOL...sounds like something a 12yo would ask.

LOL, while some on here may know what they are talking about, not everyone.
But here’s a concept for ya, if you don’t like, ignore. Nobody is forcing you to read.

As soon as 0-60 times got below 5 seconds I lost interest. In-gear performance is much more relevant in the real world.
Motor magazine in Australia regularly publishes lap times for cars it tests. As well as videos (helps me that they use Winton, a track I know intimately):
