I suspect they've thought of these issues and have paid lawyers to solidify their business model. You need to read the fine print carefully. Don't get into a future situation where your claim is denied.

I was curious and did some Google searching. This article seemed informative: https://www.acarplace.com/2016/03/insurance/. Seems like they are very restrictive on what type of trips are covered:
  1. I take an antique vehicle to a local restaurant for dinner - YES, an occasional pleasure trip covered under your policy.
  2. I drive to a local grocery store for a loaf of bread - NO, you cannot use your collectors car to run errands.
  3. Living in Los Angeles, I take a trip up the coast to San Francisco, staying in motels/hotels along the way - MAYBE, you can't use the collectors car in place of the family car.

Is there any catch to the deal? It sounds too good to be true.

It has the following clause:
USE:
1. My vehicle(s) will be used on a limited basis consistent with the operation of a collectible vehicle such as occasional pleasure drives and club/hobby activities.
2. My vehicles(s) will not be used frequently for regular driving such as driving to and from work or school, shopping, errands, general transportation, or back-up use.

How would they determine the above? "will not be used frequently" and "occasional" are pretty subjective. I selected >10,000 miles for the annual mileage.
If you are driving greater than 10K miles a year, then you almost definitely do not quality for this sort of insurance. There is a reason the quote is so low - it is because this is for vehicles that are driven very little thus the risk of losses is much lower. It is also likely your parking situation in NYC will be an issue as well since the car is being parked in garages open to the public with valet parkers etc which is not consistent with a collectible vehicle.

Idea is car events and Sunday drives

I have 9 cars in the fleet. 6 are collector cars. I pay DD premiums on the other 3.

Be smart.

You can also try insurance through NCM, the national corvette museum. They insure other sports cars, their terms seems a little less restrictive than the wording here.
