I think there is a bit of Michelin fever... the Pirelli's that are fitted on the 911 are very good. I would bet you could drive two 911's with Pirelli and Michelin tires and not be able to tell them apart unless someone told you what was on the car. They are quiet, reasonably comfortable, have very linear responsiveness and tons of grip. I'm not suggesting they are better than the P4S but they are so close, it doesn't matter. When I eventually replace them, I'll get another set of Pirelli if they are less expensive. Similarly priced, I might get Michelin's just so I can be part of the hype

They're certainly good enough for F1.

People drink too deeply from the Michelin Kool-Aid jug.

Having just converted from P-zeros to the PS4, there is a noticeable difference. For one, no more "hopping" when turning at steering lock, which always made me cringe . . .

My experience with P zeros is they're decent until they're not. Meaning that they're good when they're new and when they heat cycle they get rock hard and the grip level falls off a cliff. I think the PS4s have grip for longer. YMMV.

I don't know if Pirelli has recently updated the tire compound on P Zeros either as my experience with them was from at least 4-5 years ago

This has been my experience with the Pirellis. They will let you know when they are done without even looking at them. Mine got extremely loud and felt weird on some surfaces. They also started cupping badly as well.

can you explain what hopping is

sliding around everywhere on treadless goodyears is pretty fun, are michelins the same way after they get broken in to 2mm tread? might be one casual-metric michelin fails on

Especially when cold, the front tires at or close to steering lock do not track evenly causing one of the tires to sort of skip or hop as the vehicle turned. A known issue occurring only under certain circumstances and not abnormal, but it sure feels skeezy. Like when ABS activates, that pedal feels like you're grinding metal, but it is performing normally. My Michelins have not done this at all.

Adding to all of the facts, speculations and opinions above, Michelin has the coolest mascot!

They also make pretty good restaurant guides.
