Default Average Wait Time?

I am sitting on the sidelines waiting for one of the dealers I contacted to come back to me with a 2022 C2S Cab allocation. I have spent hours on the configurator, visited and revisited configurations, checked out some actual cars and finally decided on Guards Red with black leather, deviated stitching in GR, Premium and Sport package and Exclusive Design Wheels.
And now - I am bored.

How much time has passed from placing an order demand until you actually took delivery of your customized 992?

Placed my order in the middle of last August and did so at a significant discount. I took delivery the middle of December. But . . . the demand for 911's and the waiting line for even just an allocation now? Who knows, it seems like a buyer today should consider themselves lucky to "only" have to pay a small ADM. Ten months and this is a very different world now. Then, there was COVID and no vaccine. Now, there are COVID vaccines and an expanding economy countered by a Chip shortage that is limiting the number of cars that can be built no matter how many buyers there are.

pre-order December '19, allocation and commission # January '20 for March '20 production and June '20 collection in Stuttgart. Due to COVID was revised to July '20 US delivery.

It didn't actually exit production until May 18th but it was on a ship from Emden on May 25th and the ship entered San Diego port July 1st. It was at the dealer (Irvine Porsche) on July 8th, I took delivery July 10th. Total from exit production to delivery, a little over 6 weeks. The only real times spent 'sitting' were 5 days at Emden and 7 days in San Diego, but that includes handling time which seems fair.

Maybe not relevant to OP looking for recent/current delivery timeline, but C4 ordered and locked Nov. 2019, build date Jan. 13 2020, delivered July 7 2020. Was originally scheduled for April ED that was cancelled by Porsche in March, so holding for our Stuttgart pickup accounted for a month and a half of the delay, but car was just sitting in Germany from March to the middle of June 2020.

I was on the list for 3 months waiting for a C4S. Then I was asked if I wanted a Targa 4S instead.

Looking/Deposit - February 2021
Build - May 2021
Delivery - August 2021, if I'm lucky

The approach for how many, what (trim) and which dealer gets an allocation is a grand mystery. To me, it does not appear to be related to dealer size, volume, seniority or whining. And as mentioned elsewhere on this forum, some dealers are down right rude. I suspect it could be caller fatigue, "No I don't have one, no I don't know when I'll get one and no I can't help you."

I am dealing with two dealers in the same city - one more boutique, one larger. While neither has been rude, they have been what I call "complacent" and lacking communication. I am a long standing BMW customer and was expecting to get better customer service and attention with Porsche given we are talking a $150k purchase. Nope - not the case. This is, in the end, poor behavior, as the current supply shortage will be a temporary phenomenon, while I (and I am sure others) eventually may lose interest or move on to another brand. Porsche may very well not care, but at that point I will neither.
