detansinn -

Great synopsis. You sir, are one of the best posters on Rennlist. Oh, and love the color (ie, same as mine).

By the way, your pic of the 992 taken apart - what were they doing to your car?

Do you ever track your car? I’m in Md…if you do, maybe one track days we can meet up? Cheers.

Fantastic write up and really appreciate the recap of your journey so far. Cannot wait to begin my journey with my 2022 Aventurine that is due in late November/early December.

Not sure how I missed this thread previously. Great write up. Loved the formatting, really helps us newer owners know what to look for and expect.

Nice write up. We only have 1,000 miles after a month but looking forward to many more.

On the Google Fi SIM, we’re you able to get the cards without a phone? And how does the PCM handle the network switching? I thought you needed a phone that had that feature built in. I am planning on going with ATT after the trial since it’s $20 a month and my phones are Verizon. I’m hoping that will give me greater chances at coverage in case one or the other can’t get signal. I would switch to Google Fi since my understanding is that it uses the best carrier possible to provide a signal.

The switching is dependent upon the phone. If your phone doesn't have switching (like the PCM), it basically is a T-Mobile MVNO.

Ah okay, I will stick with ATT. Unless TMO has somehow changed coverage.

Thank you!
The picture is from when I had the dynamic engine mounts replaced under the recall. They had to tear down the whole backend and that picture is from early in the process.
I haven't tracked the 911 yet, but yes, given our proximity, that is an opportunity in the future. Thanks again!

A real AT&T SIM will be an improvement over that Vodafone MVNO, which despite using AT&T's network, implements a very low QoS.

By 'real AT&T SIM' do you mean the paid version Porsche offer after the trial period, or an actual SIM inserted into the center console slot?

Really nice post. I enjoyed reading this and thought about my own car and experiences, although not nearly as much adventure driving as you.

Reset the phone, meaning what? A hard shutdown and reboot?

Yes, reboot/restart the phone.
