How would that area (roof liner) get dirty anyway?

 

I was wondering the same thing,, unless your eating and wiping your hands on the roof liner as a napkin. I dont think I have ever touched my roof liner in the last 10 years

 

I thought the whole point of that material is that it is durable and easy to clean.

My GTS has loads of alcantara and it has held up perfectly over the years even on the steering wheel so I specced the roof liner on my build.

 

Get it. As has been said, it has always been std on a 911 so its a real shame Porsche removed it. It looks fantastic and really lifts the car, that said I am biased...

I wish this was an option in the Targa. The Race-Tex is on the underside of the targa bar as standard but it can't be added for the other areas.

Meh. Not necessarily. I had a cigarette burn on the A pillar of a light colored interior with the Alacantra roof. It looked absolutely horrendous and was right at eye level. It had melted the material and blackened it. Interior dude showed up and made it disappear. It was like magic. And just like magic, he wouldn’t tell me how he did it. Needless to say, I kept his number.

In general, I never noticed the alacantra/Race-Tex roof lining. Until Porsche decided to make us pay for it. Cunning of them.

 

Two questions for you all who have the Race Tex (or Alcantara) roof liner. I’m considering this for a ‘22 Panamera spec so forgive me for posing in the 992 section but it’s about Race Tex:

1) Do you think it would go well with a Black and Bordeaux Red leather interior? My concern is that the Race Tex has a grayish look to it and it may clash with the black leather and high gloss interior trim.

2) This seems rather obvious but I can’t find any photos and just want to confirm: the Race Tex will cover the sunroof cover (and in case of Panamera, the moonroof cover) as well, right?
