The Bose system has a total of 4 tweeters. 2 in the dash, and 2 in the rear.

Dynaudio MD 102 tweeters can be used in the front. The round Burmesters are a pretty good option for the rear.

Most of the sound is going to come from the front, so many people choose to start there and then reevaluate how things sound.

Will changing only the tweeters dynamically and drastically impact sound quality on the BOSE system?

The tweeters are one of the weakest points of the Bose system, so swapping them out can have a big impact.

Got it! Thank you for the insight. I don’t recall if it was mentioned earlier in this thread, but is the tweeter install plug n’ play and fairly easy to DIY? What’s the cost for the Dynaudio and Burmesiter tweeters?

For the Dynaudio install, the 992 has a plastic bracket which holds the Bose tweeter and this needs to be removed.

The round Burmester tweeters are the same form factor as the Bose tweeters, so these would drop right in without having to remove this bracket.

Here are a few pics of what the Dynaudio install looks like.

I did the Dynoaudio tweeter upgrade in my 991s and it was an easy DIY. It was an impressive upgrade on the 991 Bose!!

So far Musicar Northwest has been radio-silent on a similar 992 upgrade....

Did you need to take the A-Pillar trim off?

On the 991 the A Pillar trim doesn't need to come off, but it does on the 992 in order to remove the grilles.

Yep, those can definitely be used on the doors.

You can also use the Stage 1 builder for the 992 to build a kit with one or more components.

Does the Audison Prima AP 8 woofers generate noticeably more bass than the stock front woofers? Or do we need an amp upgrade to drive these woofers properly? Would I get more benefit applying sound deadening to the doors and door card vs. upgrading the woofers? Thanks.

Just for the sake of asking, are there any worthwhile upgrades to the Burmester system?
