I've been driving my 1997 911 year round in suburban NYC since I got it new in December 1996. It's fine. Just go drive the dang thing.

I daily by 992 in the SF Bay Area and have clocked around 10k in just over a year. This car has seen everything from 15%+ grade hills in the city to canyon carving in Palm Springs to tossing cases of wine in the frunk in Napa and snow in Tahoe. Yes it has some rock chips and there is a small chip in the windshield that really annoys me, but tell you what; life is short and this car has been a big part of me staying sane over the last year. Giving the car it's "bath" is also a weirdly therapeutic time, which my laughs about.

You should be fine with ceramic coating. Invest in good interior/exterior cleaning products like CarPro, Gyeon, etc from EsotericDetailing in Ohio and you will be set.

My car isn’t daily’ed but I do drive it year round. I also garage it. Wash and wax it regularly and you’ll be fine. PPF on the front of the car is all the insurance you need. I also did a pillars, rockers, muds and rear bumper. It’s a special car, but it’s still a car. They’re designed to withstand harsh winters, even more so today with the 992 than previous gens.

Got the car on December 30, Had winters put on as soon as it arrived and drove it through the whole NJ winter. No ceramic, No PPF. Every two weeks I took it to the self service wash and washed the outside, underside, wheel wells and engine from below and shocks. Never had a single rock chip or issue with potholes. In the now 3.5 months I have had it I have put on 4K miles. I bought this amazing toy/tool to be used and using it I am and winter aint stopping that !!!!

I will say that I have a macan for actual snow days and very bad weather days - purely because between the other idiots on the road and the fact that I drive really spirited, the car is not as much fun on really bad days.

No ceramic or PPF here either. Rather spend the cash on more options, it's a car it will get dirty and driven.

The wife has a Macan S, but for truly bad days, there's my mighty V8 Touareg and if that fails I know I can count on my Siberians and Olga

If you really want to protect your car from salt, get the underbody coated and wash it very regularly - and by washing I don't mean just the exterior panels.

Funny…I once got strange looks from the CEO of a large software company out of Toronto when I told him I drove my 997 year round. His beater was a Jeep, reckon I did better
