Default Reduced Engine Power error message

Has anyone encountered below error message that says

“Reduced Engine Power
Driving Permitted
Visit Workshop”.

If yes, what was the problem and solution?
I have booked appointment with the local dealership in Houston, but wanted to see if others have had the same issue come up.

My car currently has 1400 miles on it.

I've had it. Was the Oil cap not being installed properly. I removed it and put it back straight on ... never saw that message again.

I have had it several times on a 997.2 GTS; it was a failed high pressure fuel pump both times.

You need to get a PIWIS to read the codes when it's active. Could be related to the TSB for injectors...

I'm pretty sure that indicates the car is in limp mode. So the message is generic for, "Something serious happened that could result in permanent damage if you rev too high." So the ECU takes over and significantly reduces power, but calculates that if you baby the car, it's OK to drive to the dealership.

At least that's my understanding.

Are you stock or tuned?

I've had it before on high speed pulls - usually goes away after next startup. It was a some sensor error that a new tune took care of. If it doesnt go away - as said above, def get it looked at. Im in H-town as well. Shoot me a PM if you need a rec for service.

I've had it happen three times. Stock base car. First time my indie read the code, said it was a cylinder 1 injector electrical fault, advised me to take it to the dealer if it happened again. Second time I took it to the dealer. Dealer contacted Porsche who said to replace the injector and wiring harness, then changed their mind and said it was a DME problem. I got it back and it happened a third time. Back to the dealer and this time the injectors and harness were replaced. I just got it back yesterday but with the weather I won't have a chance to test it for a while.

This is pretty much what happened to me. This is why you need to get a code reader on it. If the codes etc. match this TSB you should make the dealer contact Porsche per the TSB.

I had it happen two weeks ago. Car was brand new (300 miles). It was a cam shaft actuator (no clue what that is). They replaced.
