Rear knocking sound fixed!
When I went to pick the car up, it was declared there was no noise and all was well.
Well it wasn't. Even passengers noticed a low speed loud grating every time the car went over a small bump, coming from the rear of the car.
Sounded like a dry suspension bush. This has been going on for 8 months now.
So this afternoon, I put it up on a lift at my friends garage and had a look myself with him.
The view from underneath is every bit as impressive as you would hope it would be from such a superbly engineered car. These 992s are such good value for money, its got to be said.
First minor thing I noticed was the turbos must be very water cooled when it rains. They are positioned directly behind the rear wheels with no protection! Blimey.
Mr P must know what he is doing.
Then I noticed a set of heat shields protecting the bumper from the exhaust heat. The are made out of very thin alloy. They made a distinct tapping noise when pressed by hand. Two were interfering and their was a tell tale mark on one pair. So I adjusted the heat shields by pulling them with my finger.
You can see the wear mark in the third picture.
All the rear and the front suspension joints were perfect after 15,000 enjoyable miles. The rear anti roll bar/ chassis bushes however are not sealed, so I took the opportunity to lubricate them with red grease. Just couple of minutes.
All in all 5 minutes. The result?
Motoring perfection.
Squeaks and rattles banished.
Am I unhappy with my dealer? No not at all, jut one of those things.
