Better sound quality?
Which source will produce better sound quality - songs transferred to and playing from a usb drive, or from an iPod plugged into the USB port, or my iPhone 12 Pro playing through wireless CarPlay?
side note - its actually one of my kids old iPhones (5), that I dusted off, reformatted, and am using now as an iPod. Even though its got a wired connection to usb, its connected to the in car WiFi and able to get all songs from my Apple Music subscription.

I have an SD card loaded up with high bitrate stuff that seems to playback at a higher quality than the iPhone Wireless CarPlay connection. That being said, if your stuff is low bitrate, it's not going to matter whether it's on an SD or using a USB connection. Wireless CarPlay is capable of 16bit/44.1khz (CD quality) playback -- it is superior to a Bluetooth connection for most codecs.
If you're streaming from Apple Music, it likely won't make a lick of difference whether your using a wired USB connection or the Wireless CarPlay connection. Apple Music streaming quality is whole different matter of debate.
When the engine is running on the 911 and you're driving on the road, you'll need young ears to note any difference. :P

Wont make a difference in the car.
Amazon HD music will let you stream 16/48 files in Apple carplay which is less than the full 24 bit resolution you'd get streaming from a router but it's better than mp3's. For full 24 bit resolution in the car I use the SD card slot. Which device you play mp3's on likely won't make any difference.
