Solicitation for your thoughts regarding why so many low mileage used 911s on Autotrader.
I am interested in a "newer" used 911 and am curious why there are so many low mileage 911s on sites like Autotrader. I'm considering a used 992 with less than 1000 miles, but why would anyone purchase a car like that and then trade it in so quickly? What am I missing and should I be concerned?

People are morons. That’s why there are so many 911’s with so few miles.
Porsche mass produces these cars with robots. They make like a kajillion of them and they’re intended to be driven and enjoyed as cars. A modern 911 is not a “collectible car” or a “special occasion” car — I don’t understand why people deny themselves the pleasure of driving it.
When buying a used car, an extremely low mileage example is actually not better than a car that has been driven, because a car that is regularly driven will have fewer problems than one that has been sitting for a long time. That being said, if the car is just a couple of years old, go for it — their loss and idiocy are very much your gain.

I bought my 11month old 992 C4S with 3250 miles on the clock from an OPC. The original purchaser had put £31.5k worth of options on it... yet hadn’t bothered to drive it! 🧐 Result for me 😜
...also people that wanted a placeholder until the Turbo or Targa came out. Also, I am sure COVID has had an impact on number of miles driven. Normally, last summer I would have had a trip down Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway on my way to visit dear friends in Charleston, and another trip to Oyster Bay to go scalloping. Add a in a trips to New England and Kansas City and you have about the 10k I’d normally do. Right now, I only have 3800 miles logged puttering around DelMarVa.

Yep, COVID. My 8 month old car just clicked over 4,000 miles. Crazy if you do the depreciation math / mile .

A lot or Porsche owners have these cars as weekend cars. They take them for a drive on Saturday and/or Sunday and then clean them and put them away. They are generally well cared for and usually low mileage. They either tire of them or sell them for a newer model. Just go on any PCA Dine and Drive type event and look at the mileage and condition of the cars. I would have no problem buying a late model 911 with low mileage - I've bought two of them and have had no trouble at all with them.
My 992S bought Dec 21st has only 513 miles on it and today is March 13. They dump so much sand and salt on the roads in Northern Virginia (and its been too cold for P-Zero summer tires) that its been parked for that simple reason. I have no desire to have a sandblasted windshield and lower body panels on the 992, I have other vehicles to drive in the winter. Once the crap is off the roads - it will come out to play.
GT4 just came into my dealer to sell with only 250 miles on it. Owner couldn't take the hard ride of the car. Some people THINK they want a Porsche (especially the cool-looking GT series) then find out living with one is different than what they imagined.
People have all kinds of situations. I have 325 miles on mine after a couple months of ownership partly due to weather but will continue to be low miles because not a DD or highway cruiser and just a play car. I own outright and will most likely put on market late summer/early fall after my fun is done with 2-3K miles on it.

I’m close to Salt Lake City, The Great Salt Lake and the Bonneville Salt Flats. There are a number of salt mines within 50 miles. Sand is just as plentiful. I let the other vehicle handle winter. It’s been dumping snow here since I took delivery of my C2S three weeks ago. It has 142 miles on it. But when the roads become clear in another few weeks I’ll be logging miles all over the western US. My second vaccine goes into the other arm next week so I’ll be ready to roll.
A lot of true enthusiasts will buy the first year of a generation, and then trade in once a Turbo or GT allocation becomes available to them. Also a lot of demo cars out there, some of which may have been used at porsche experience events, probably best to avoid those - not sure how to determine that though.
