992 gearing vs 718 spyder

I have a 992 C2S Manual on order right now. I seriously considered the 718 Spyder, but it just seemed that the tall gearing is a little boring for legal limit driving. You could do all of your driving in 2nd and 3rd. Any idea how the 7 speed MT stacks up to the 718 gearing?

The gearing is pretty good and quite versatile in the gt4. This issue is overblown. The overlap between each range gives a lot of flexibility in your choices. The 992 is faster and has more torque so the idea that you wouldn’t drive in exactly the same gears is completely laughable. The 992 gets you to the legal limit even faster. The folks who claim they only drive in 2nd and 3rd are either lying, or their neighbors think they’re total ******** for flying by at 7000rpms in the local neighborhood. I drive in all the gears on highways in CA. Granted 6th is more overdrive for cruising efficiency. And the fun twisities are indeed primarily 2nd and 3rd. Just like they are in any recent 911.
What is different is the 992 turbos make a lot more low end torque. They’re convenient, and you can short shift into higher gears. The only way you get to 4th in a 992 is by refusing to drive 3rd hard. And if you’re not going to wring it out, why do you even care ?
But if that’s what you like, and it’s not the gearing that’s a problem, it’s that you don’t really want to drive an NA engine.

those ratios are right for the Spyder / gt4, although the velocity seems a tiny pinch too high compared to what I get on the road

That's useful feedback. I did not take into account any sidewall compression as I didn't know by how much to adjust it. Ignoring compression will tend to over estimate the speed. If you have a calibration point rpm / speed for any gear or rpm that would be useful info. Thx
