Default Dealer Discount for 992

Hey All,

Buying a 992 C4S in Canada, dealer is giving me 2% off MSRP. Is that typical? Car is $140K CAD base + $30K in options. Saw a video online stating that 6-8% is what I should be aiming for but that is for US. No idea about Canada and no idea on the 992 model. Dealer is claiming that the build slots are all full and I'm "lucky" to get a slot in April for May delivery. Not sure if this is all a game or for real. First P car for me so I want to make sure I'm not being taken.

Thanks!

New York USA - TTS Cab - ordered July 2020 / delivered Dec 2020 5months - msrp, no discount - they threw in 2 hats, radar power line install, and a free uber ride on delivery day - soon after my delivery a friend approached the dealer for a TTS and was told no allocations until possibly q4 - at that point a wait list for 2022 would be wiser - if the C4S in Canada has better opportunity for an allocation consider yourself lucky, and be happy - others in the USA are also not getting much luck for any 911 - shopping around helps, also customer cancellations happen, so it’s good to be on any list your dealer might have

Yeah, I actually saw your reply in another thread. I wanted a turbo, they said 12 months! So, definitely understand why there's no discount on that car. C4S seems more attainable so making sure I squeezed all I could.

Canadian dealers generally don’t give much off, even before COVID. You can refuse the deal and try to drive a harder bargain, but they’ll likely find someone else to take your allocation.

This. Stocks seem to be very low - there are only 15 911's listed on dealer lots in Canada, an average of one per store. The ones listed are pretty dolled up with options - no surprise there. Two points on a custom order is two more than I would expect.

2% off MSRP is a good deal in Canada. Some dealers don't discount at all.

Not in this climate, there are very few 992's to be found and long waits to get one. While you won't be bragging at 2%, that's fair considering the shortage of new cars.

Couldn't get more than 2.5% off here. Also in Ontario.

I say go for it!

You’re not going to find much in terms of discounts right now. The cars are in short supply.

Glad I got my car in Mid 2020. Got a considerable amount off. Of course I ordered the car before the Pandemic hit in February.

Yep, that's a more realistic expectation right now.

2% is decent now considering porsche might even have difficulties fulfilling those 992 orders this year. 2 friends of mine are still waiting for allocation availability since fall 2020. Also, $0 discount in BC if buying new 992 factory orders.
