Default Shopping for a 992

I am going to be starting the process of buying my first 911 in the next week or two. I want to order a C2 modestly equipped. My question is to people that may have placed an order for a new 911 in the last month or two. What I would like to know is if dealers are discounting / negotiating the price of the car or are they holding firm due to the lack of availability. I would be grateful for your insights.

I was offered 2500 discount on my order without even asking. All my dealer had, at this time, were allocations for cabs and one targa, which I took.

TTS Cab - ordered July 2020 / delivered Dec 2020 - msrp, no discount - they threw in 2 hats, radar power line install, and a free uber ride on delivery day, to write a modest check

LOL !! “I felt very special"....please don’t spoil it !!

Yonkers, just north of NYC - my dealer is in CT....they were the only ones to respond to my email (immediately) and I had an allocation within 1 week of inquiring - due to COVID, we did everything via text email/text message & it worked to my total stress free satisfaction - simple, smooth and no errors

Your luck getting a C2 allocation is going to be far better than a C2S

I'm in greater NYC, and just found a C2 Cab allocation today after making calls to 4 dealers. June-ish ETA. $3K off of MSRP. The dealer is the furthest away and none of the other dealers were willing to offer any discount, if an allocation was to come in...

C2 allocations in my area were dealer based (some dealers had like 8 allocations, others had one or none). I am in the Bay Area CA and ordered early/mid December. Called about 10-15 dealers in a 500 mile radius. It honestly depends on which dealers you talk to. Some are firm and don't give anything, a few gave me $2000 off MSRP. The larger dealers are a little more flexible and I ended up getting a few % points. I was pleased with my discount and delivery window period.

I would say if you are able to get something between $2-5k on a C2, its a good number currently. Expect to put somewhere between 5-10k down.

C2's are a bit easier to source for some reason but as most have said you will likely do a bit of legwork to 1) find an allocation 2) find a dealer willing to give it up at a significant discount 3) find one with a delivery date that isn't late spring/summer. Ordered my car last July (last week of July to be exact) and dealer had an allocation for me 10 days later with delivery date last week of Nov (car came day before Thanksgiving so I was very thankful on Turkey day!) Four months wait till delivery is pretty average so a car ordered now probably looking at June/July delivery if not maybe later. Good luck....lots of people searching for cars right now!

Seems to be a lot (I mean relatively speaking) of C2s in Texas. When I purchased mine last month there was 10 in Houston, a few in Austin and 3 in DFW. I just looked and there are still some around. The issue I had with the majority of them is they were spec'd without PSE and sport chrono which I wanted.

There are seven in DFW right now. 3 carreras and 4 cab.

Everyone wants an S or 4S it seems. Well not everyone but for example I would have taken a base car last year IF they had brought the manual to the base car. However since Porsche has made the decision to upscale that particular option to the S only for the 992 then I had to move upward and seek an S allocation. But the base car I did test drive was nicely option and more car than a majority of drivers need and can handle on regular roads in the US.
