Prior to ordering my 992 , I had the opportunity to drive the new Corvette C 8 .
My impressions
overwrought styling, way overdone exterior,
strange interior. passenger is isolated and can not reach any controls, steering wheel is rectangular and wont allow
9 and 3 hand position, confining driving position, controls crowded around driver, seat and steering wheel off center
many examples of poor build quality, way to much nanny controls making the driving experience rather sterile
way overpriced because of huge premiums dealers are charging over list price, expect many mechanical issues\
as is typical of Chevy.
The Porsche is understated performance and luxury. The build quality is excellent making a first year of model
not a risk for build quality. It has been and continues to be the definitive sports car. geez...tone it down ! not a practical design and the poor passenger the everyman ( and woman ) cockpit
I’m not trying to harsh your high here. But there are three other threads specifically discussing the Corvette on the 992 forum. Those are the ones I found in thirty seconds.
Which brings me to a more sensitive subject; You can start as many random threads as random ideas pop into your mind. From gas flaps to numerous rear shelf covers. But starting eleven threads in a week seems excessive ? Just one humans opinion, and not meant in any way to be snarky.

Cheers.
looks like you are the self appointed queen of this enterprise ? correct me if I'm wrong....
I've had a few Corvettes (they are fun!) and I also cross shopped the C8 before ordering my C2S. My issues with Corvettes of the past and what was immediately apparent to me when I looked at the C8 was simply the lack of build quality. The misalignment of interior trim seams (see below) IMHO spoke of an attention to detail that was so absent from what was so blatantly obvious, that it certainly calls into question that which I can not see. A great concept, but unfortunately an extremely poor execution.

The C 7 had an edge to it, the C 8 is as tame as a cucumber

Awesome! You had the opportunity to drive a C8 and you provided the definitive review.
Thank you!
I owned a C8 for about a month before selling it. I really did like it. Quiet, smooth, and fast. For me though, there is not much that can hold up to the 911.
Spoken like a true fanboy. 992 is not a corvette competitor. However, comparing the C8 to the C7 it's a leap ahead. There's a lot of car here for the price. Yes Chevy has some quality opportunities and there will be improvements. Maybe you don't remember Porsche IMS bearing issues. I love seeing both cars push the envelope, that's what keeps the market fresh.
I haven’t driven the C8 but from what I have read it is very quiet inside and rides smoothly. Not something you can say about the 911 of any vintage. But otherwise the 911 is superior in almost all respects. I don’t know which I will replace my 997.2 with or maybe check out aTesla Roadster.
Corvettes make great weekend rentals, and that's not a bash on that car. They're so fun and great to rip around in but they are a compromise at the end of the day. There's a reason everyone calls vettes "the best bang for your buck sports car"... GM compromises quality for $ and it clearly shows unless you're newly coming out of a Mustang/ Nissan Z/Camaro.
For those who have experienced and come to love the 911, you know deep down inside the Corvette will never be Porsche 911, and the 911 will never be a Corvette.
To me, the name Corvette translates to "generic hotrod".
The only company that can match or beat the Germans at their own game is Lexus. Why? Because Lexus quality and Lexus service is outstanding. Now since they’ve gotten a reputation for this, their prices have gone WAY up, understandably, so the value discussion no longer applies since prices are almost on par. This hasn’t really happened with the Corvette other than the ZO6 and ZR1. Why? The problem with the Corvette is that it’s still a Chevy. Chevy quality and service are the polar opposite of Lexus and Porsche. The same guy working on Chevy Cobalts is the same guy working on your “special” Corvette, except to them, it’s not special at all. To them, it’s another Chevy as well. If you bring your Corvette in for service, what do they give you for a loaner? Not another Corvette. Not a Camaro SS. They likely give you a Chevy Malibu, or a Traverse. No thanks. Not interested. This has been covered ad nauseum and is now officially a dead horse, so let’s stop beating it already.

That's IF you even get a loaner, but yeah.
The same type of thing happens at Honda and other brands.. As a matter of fact, service departments for most of the lower end brands are full of bigger sociopaths than the sales/finance guys.
