Auto Software Update
I was just reviewing the Connect settings on the wife's 2020 Macan S and I have the auto software update settings set to OFF. The main reason being that given the many electronic (and other) modifications I've made to her car, I don't want every download to have the system reset everything. I've got a reminder set to tell the Service folks when I take the car down for its 10k courtesy service just to reset the SRI and not touch the reset all.
Was thus wondering if folks have enabled this and whether they've experienced that their changes (PIWIS/x431 etc.) were erased after the upgrade.

I don't think any 992 owner has had their PCM updated OTA (over the air). Maps data updates automatically but not the PCM. A couple posters mentioned they received an OTA PCM software but never confirmed.
992 owners have had their PCM updated at the dealer service department (not OTA). I haven't done so and can't confirm, but I don't think this resets your PCM settings or preferences. My previous cars from other manufacturers never completely reset after a software update either. Has this happened to you before?

No it was just that when I had a firmware issue with the wife's Macan they were unable to correct or find the problem so Porsche told them to reload the software suspecting data corruption (the issue was headlight strobbing). In doing this they reset everything so all the mods I'd made were gone.
At the time I set the auto software update to off as I didn't want an update to erase everything and have to start again at every time. That's why I asked if anyone has had this setting to ON or ENABLE OTA updates.

PS Are you notified of map updates and how do you know when the latest map update was?

I have received one map update since taking delivery in late November. PCM prompted with a message on the screen that the update was available, yes to accept, no to decline.

In 14 months have never seen indication that there has been an OTA update even with it set to ON. Have had several required software updates done at dealer and not had to reset any settings after the procedure. I think these were mainly engine or drivetrain updates. Porsche has, however, perfored some software updates on their PCM servers that have apparently made it necessary for owners to re-register "Porsche Connect" in their cars and which have seemingly changed some PCM setting preferences requiting an owner re-set. The latter has resulted in what I call "Saturday Morning Surprises" as I mainly do weekend drives in my 992. Have experiences three auto map updates and there is indication on screen that update has been performed. These happened while driving.

Interesting and thanks for sharing. I've not had any software updates in the year since I bought the Macan. I didn't renew the Porsche Connect a couple of weeks ago when the complimentary period ended so probably map updates wont' happen. So to summarize, you did have your Auto Connect set to On but it did ask you to agree (or not) to update.
A last question, are these updates dealer or PNA initiated.

I've had one OTA Map update and two updates by the dealer; one for the PCM and the other for the DCT. None of these updates had any impact on any of my settings/preferences.
