First Time Porsche Owner 992 C2S Review
The 992 replaced my old chevy equinox as my daily driver. I commute about 60-80 mins a day (roundtrip) to and from the office and various locations for work. I knew I wanted to get a Porsche 911 as my daily after my wife and I bought a house, and even though the 992 C2S was at the top end of my financial comfort zone, I am definitely glad that I got it. I was originally looking at getting a 997.2 or a 991.1 Turbo S, then I was looking at a 997 or 991 GT3 (2010-2015), but then I was concerned with daily driving a GT3 and my business partner and I decided to go for a test drive in the 992 4S, and we both fell in love with the 992. We got the last 2 allocations for 2020 for our local dealership, and we both wanted a manual transmission car, and we both wanted the C2S because it was rwd. Fast forward 6 months and the car finally arrived. I have put in about 300 miles and it has been a blast. I have owned many sports cars (Stock Lancer Evolution IX, 510 whp S2000, 300 whp FD RX7) but non have made me smile this much.
PROS:
- As many have mentioned, the gearbox for the manual transmission is pure silk. The short throws are perfect, it feels tight, and at the same time effortless. The pedals are not too far but also not too close, as being a 6'1" individual with a size 12 shoe, I can tell you that if the pedals were any closer I would be stepping on my shoes.
- (PROS if you got these options, which I highly recommend getting) Front Axel Lift is by far one of my favorite features. I go in and out of parking garages, and streets and roads that have dips and of course getting in and out of my driveway. Syncing it with GPS location is just icing on the cake. If you ever have to 3 wheel up, or down, a curb or speed bump in your work or home environment, its a MUST.
- Surround View for parking (works especially well in cramped garages and it automatically kicks on when you are creeping forward to avoid a curb while parking)
- 18 Way Adjustable Seats are also a must if you spend more than 15 minutes commuting. They support every conceivable area while being in a seated positoin.
- PSE is great!!! My 992 sounds better at idle and low RPM's than my older brothers 991.1 Turbo and my Dads 997.2 Turbo S. I don't know what higher RPM's sound like atm because I still have about 100 miles left in the break in period.
- Miami Blue looks awesome in the day and at night

- Tall Passenger friendly. Loads of leg room if you only have 1 passenger to fit and they are tall.
CONS:
- Again, as many have bemoaned, CarPlay sucks, but at the same time doesn't. It doesn't work as one would intuitively imagine, but it feels like some created a work around to not use PCM. For instance, it wont recognize my playlist from the touch screen, but if I hit play from my Music app on my iphone (itunes) it will start playing it and even allow me to skip and go to the next song within my playlist.
- PCM is a nightmare with lists within lists that usually don't take you to where you want to go to solve whichever problem or setting you are trying to adjust. It seems that there is a disconnect between the engineers that develop and test the mechanical aspects of the car, and the engineers that developed the PCM.
- Still PCM related: Homelink: Works and again doesn't work everytime from the home screen. I have Homelink as one of my home screen tiles, sometimes it will automatically pull up my saved profile (mind you I only have one profile so why it would be asking me for my other profile is beyond me) and sometimes it will ask to setup a new profile if I press the "Homelink" tile. Its only a matter of backing out of the new homelink profile setup and touching the red homelink tab under my saved profile, but I feel that it should do this and, again, is not intuitive.
- Seat reclining tab/switch for access to "rear seats". I understand that the rear seats are mainly for folded up circus folk or children with no legs, but I do stick my ipad, files, and my suit jacket in my rear seat and having to use my left hand or contort my right hand to reach the pull strap is kind of a nuisance. It would be smarter just to put a button on the side of the seat or on the lower trim (where the buttons are to open front and rear latches).
Notable Mentions:
- Spyder Wheels are gorgeous, and look fantastic in the day. Obviously optional choice, but it is something that will help your car stand out.
- PDCC (I have had it on at all times, so I don't really know what it feels like to not have it on, it feels great and I can't wait to try it out on the track)
- Aero Kit w/ Spoiler gets a lot of looks, so this could be a con if you don't want people to constantly comment about your car (good or bad). I didn't like it until I saw it in person at the dealership. I locked in my order shortly after I saw it. ZERO regrets!!!

Congrats and beautiful spec.
I am 6'1 with broad shoulders and around 225. Do you find the 18 ways tight in any areas? I wear 38/32 pants. I have not been able to find 18's to try as awe only have one dealer and they never have 911's on the ground. I have sat in the 14s and they were fine comfort wise but would prefer the 18's as long as they don't constrict me.

Great and thank you for the input. Helps a lot.

I would think blue is popular with 911 buyers but they only offer a dark blue snd a darker darker blue for the 2021 Targa- maybe they want to make you spend $12,000 PTS blue paint choice? Eventually it seems like they will add shark blue maybe.
I ended up ordering metallic white with the full Bordeaux red dipped interior. Dash and steering wheel and door tops red rather than black like this car in the post. My SA said something about Porsche was having to lend with the Miami blue paint and was moving toward canceling the color and replacing it with this new shark blue.
A Miami blue targa with the graphite blue all leather interior and blue top would likely be my choice if it had been a available or a near white leather interior. The red interior with the Miami blue exterior kinds of clashes in my opinion. Each to his own said the farmer........
mock up of my car with custom side decal I have being made in England.

It was definitely a hard choice between white, chalk, or MB. Almost all of my cars have been exclusively white, so I figured I would do the most out of character color on my first Porsche.
what puzzles me is ordering one of the nondescript grey colors on a fun toy like a sports car. I like your wing for the same reason- have fun - be bold on these toy cars—
I know chalk is popular - but seems like a dirty white that needs washing. If your going white- I prefer a bold white. The metallic white is an extra $950 odd dollars and the metallic is so fine that it is often not noticeable. But it was something different than the bright white on my other four cars.
white is also easy to resell and if any body work is needed it is easy to match while bright colors always fade from the sun and very difficult for a bodyshop to match and white looks clean when it is dirty.
I have yet to see a Miami blue 911 on the road — I will hopefully see you zoom by one of these days with a big smile.
