Default CarPlay full screen ??

Suspect the answer is negative ...

has anyone found a way to have CarPlay over entire PCM screen without the quarter screen on the right...

I doubt if is feasible without Apple upgrading the software - CP is in 16:9 format whereas the PCM screen is more like 3:1 - if PCM stretched it to fit the icons would be rectangles - I guess without some fancy scaling software CP has to make do wth whatever screen size is available and they vary 🤯

Nah, this is a Porsche PCM limitation. Audi MMI can do fill their really widescreen with CarPlay. You just get more icons:

Apple handles scaling much better than this, it’s no longer the 2x stretch from days past. It could definitely handle this, it’s just how Porsche implemented that small sliding screen - or it’s very possible that Apple doesn’t provide an API for resizing once the connection is established.

What's even worse is that the Taycan has zero issue displaying CarPlay across the full screen, which appears to be very close in size and aspect ratio to the one in the 992. Having owned both cars simultaneously, it's painfully obvious (and irritating) that the two PCM systems were clearly worked on by two entirely different teams within Porsche (which is also absurd when you think about it).

It's a limitation of the PCM software, not a limitation of CarPlay. It's possible that we might get a wide screen through an update someday, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

There's probably some settings on PIWIS to change it, but without a taycan to copy from, it's very risky
