WARNING: ALL AEROKITS SUSPENDED
Just got a call from my dealer who said my build had been kicked back as Porsche had suspended all Aerokit optioned vehicles through 2022. Changed to the Sport Design Package and saved some cash to put towards XPEL.

Any idea as to why? Aerodynamics issue? Supply issue ? Restricted for use in GT cars?

Conflicting stories. Some say it's QA with supplier, others some other story, but the fact remains that no further aerokit builds are being honored. I would assume it's a QA. I had inquired as to getting a duck tail (as I had in my 911 T) but they said it couldn't be done as it restricted the airflow to the turbos. I guess IIRC the ski slope of the duck tail would orient air away from the engine cover, but obviously they've done wind tunnel tests on this which is why I don't think it's an aerodynamic issue as that would have been caught early. But then again there's the Macan rear window which any seeing person would never have allowed into production or it never went through a wind tunnel test.
If I hear more, I'll post. Just wanted to let folks know asap

As of now obviously. If it was earlier then those folks will either be or have been notified. If you've got an aerokit build vehicle in the pipe you might want to check

Only downside - if they find it to be a safety/liability hazard and recall all that have it. Think first gen Audi TT - without a factory spoiler. Audi recalled them and owners were given a choice to have a spoiler put on for more downforce, or I believe sign a waiver releasing Audi of any liability related to it. Hopefully not the case here, but sounds pretty serious, till 2022 doesn't sound like a supply problem.

No, I don't believe it is. My thought it's a QA problem with the supplier. Same thing on my Touareg with the hydraulic pump for the hatch, VDub stopped all deliveries of the part due to quality assurance issues with it. No idea if it's still in force but I found a reconditioned one back when I needed it.
I would definitely check with your dealer is all I can suggest. Just a shame they can't put the original duck tail on

Well then, here's a pretty cool John Player Special sitting on the lot in New Jersey if anyone wants a 992 with Aerokit. Even has a proper three pedal transmission.
