I'm likely going to swap my 992 for GT4, with PDK. Primarily because of the gearing difference that comes with PDK, feel like that will make the car feel sharper.
I agree that the gearing issue is relatively overblown but it is an issue. I drove a Spyder a few times and you spend most of your time in 2nd and 3rd. Then I realized I spend most of my time in my 992 in 3rd and 4th so what's it matter anyway.

If you read the automotive magazines, it’s because they didn’t think it would be worth the trouble to completely re-engineer the transmission given the small volume involved.

Some owners may be able to live with the longer gearing; but it’s an issue nonetheless... even AP has an issue with it...

Why are the gear ratios only an issue with the GT4/Spyder and not in the GT3? All the whining is that you can only redline the engine on the street in 1st and 2nd gear because redline in 3rd is at about 116 mph. On the GT3 it’s about the same. Don’t tell me that the GT3 has more torque. It’s irrelevant when the complaint is that the ratios don’t allow reaching redline in 3rd on the street. There is only one reason for the hypocrisy: it’s sacrilege to say anything is wrong with the GT3 but expected to disparage any Porsche that isn’t a 911.

I’ve driven the 992 5 times in 2S and 4S form with and without RAS. It’s a totally different animal from the Spyder. The 992 feels bigger, less agile, more disconnected, softer, more refined, and more digital. It’s a far less visceral or engaging experience. I’d choose the 992 as a DD, a vehicle to commute with, or one to take on trips. But for a back road carver or “pure/analogue” sports car experience, the Spyder just can’t be matched IMHO.

Ideally, I’ll get a 992 variant to compliment my Spyder, but I’m waiting to see if the many things that annoy me with the 992.1 are fixed in the 992.2. In the mean time, if I can only have one, it’s unquestionably the Spyder for me. I might end up with a 991.2...we’ll see...

Default Redundancy?

My targa should be delivered in two weeks, just offloaded from Siem Aristotle in Baltimore.

I have an order for a GTS 4.0 Boxster to be delivered in May.

Both manual transmissions.

MY 30TH AE MX5 Pumpkin orange will be sold.

Will my two Porsches be REDUNDANT or COMPLIMENTARY?

I think they will be redundant. I'll take the GTS off of your hands.
