Battery Charger/Maintainer Advice
Looking for a battery charger/maintainer for the Lithium Ion battery in my 992 for the winter and had a question.
I've narrowed it down to CTEK and Porsche below - looks like the CTEK requires connection directly to the battery while the Porsche one just plugs into the port in the car and an outlet? Am I correct to assume this? What would be the biggest difference between the 2?
I'm leaning towards the Porsche one since it'd probably be easier to just plug in and leave it but was wondering if anyone could clarify/make recs one way or the other. Links attached below.

I would get a standard CTEK. The Porsche one is a rebranded CTEK, you are just paying Porsche tax on it. A CTEK 56-263 adapter will work if you want to use the accessory outlet which I have found to be a complete PITA. It is $12 on Amazon.

I bought the Porsche branded one as a “rookie mistake” but I can’t imagine why I wouldn’t just get the CTEK one in the future should I need to replace this one

The 12V outlet adds complications to the hook up. In order for the maintainer to be electrically connected, the outlet has to be activated. This adds a step: after you plug it into the 12V you have to turn the ignition to the accessory position long enough for the outlet to power up. Someone suggested 1 minute on another thread. It also means that if there is a power failure, even a brief one, the maintainer is no longer connected because the 12V gets powered off and you have to go through the whole process again. I ended up buying a UPS to deal with power failures.
In my case, the dealer comped me the P maintainer because I knew to ask for one and I traded my kids' inheritance for the car but if it needs to be replaced at some point, I'll try Plan B.

I have the Lithium Ion in my 992 as well and I do not intend to hook up a tender. I've been using these batteries in motorcycles for years now, you can't kill them. They have double the lifespan of an AGM conventional battery and don't need frequent charging. I say save your $$$ and you should not need one at all.
