Default Apple Carplay--sometimes doesn't load

Another tech thread, I guess.

Yesterday Apple Carplay connected just fine, but intermittently it just seems to disconnect. It got annoying enough that I just switched over to the car's PCM (is that the right term?) and I'm getting all of the same features I need (Bluetooth phone, navigator's already there, etc etc).

Anybody else in the same boat?

Finally, there doesn't seem to be a way to reconnect Apple Carplay if you suddenly change your mind and want to re-connect with that, does anybody know how to do that?

From my experience, it is typically the iPhone, not the PCM with these issues. Reboot your phone and try again.

I'd go along with this; I've had success in switching the phone to airplane mode and back as well. But what's an airplane again

In the Devices menu option to open Device Manager and where it lists your phones, I believe that one of the icons will reconnect to CarPlay. You can also put a CarPlay tile on your customized home screen.

I found this PCM pic on the Internet - I think it's the rightmost icon ("Link") that appears for CarPlay phones and can open CarPlay:

^ Gotcha. Thanks guys I'll give it another try.

Can I use Carplay to play Youtube videos from my iPhone to the PCM touchscreen?

Now THAT, my friend, would be useful. Otherwise, Carplay doesn't seem like all that......

You can also go into your iPhone settings, general, car play and toggle it on and off. That will also clear up hangs you might run into.
