One of the five hot buttons just under the center screen on my 992 is I believe a traction control button that looks like it would light up if you press it..... But mine doesnt light. No matter what drive mode I am in if I press that hot button nothing seems to change on the center display or light.

You have to hold it down for a second or two, have you tried that? BTW, it's not just traction control that you're changing but the complete stability system, PSM in Porsche language. And if you have sports chrono there are three modes: normal (everything on), PSM Sport (reduced intervention), and PSM Off (everything off). There is an explanation on page 185 of the owners manual.
