It can be tricky the first time - the plug you need to access is facing down and it's in a smallish area. My recommendation is to use your phone on selfie-mode and give yourself a view of what's going on. Ultimately you just need to unclip the red lock on the plug, and depress while removing (similar to most electrical plugs on the car).

This is the only time that left side ignition switch is actually useful!
Still have to get in and push the clutch in…..

The dealer can do it. Not all of them know how. But most can and will activate it. Its disabled in the US because for whatever reason. Dealer will use PWIZ to activate it in the hidden settings.

It can be coded for US market cars, using PIWIS. The top can also be coded but it requires the proper fob with dedicated button. The connector is present in the fob board, but as it is there's no way to access it.

John - on that option, it says 'open' the windows with long press but does it also close the windows too? As per the owners manual section quoted in this thread? And do you know if it also closes the sunroof?

I ask as that was a really handy feature in our old BMW X3. If you left the sunroof open by accident you could close it up from the house without having to go outside. Very useful if it started to rain.

Closes and opens holding the respective buttons.
Porsches used to have that up to around 2010, give it or take. Than the lawyers took over.

The service team tried to help, looked in the software but were not able to find the settings in the hidden (or any other) sections.

Have them search for comfort (or Komfort) settings under the coding menu

@John Mclane @abizarvakharia was this ever resolved? I have a US-spec 2021 992 with Premium Package (door handle pop out when I near the car, etc), but am really missing the ability to open / close the sunroof via the fob. Any progress on getting the dealer to code it?

I had a convertible, so I cannot attest for the sunroof. The windows open and close via fob after coding.
