Would you purchase a "launch" vehicle?
I'm looking at getting my first porsche and have narrowed it down to a 992 2S with some key specific options.
I found about 3-4 that meet my spec, all of them were short-term (about 1 year) internal Porsche Executive demo cars, with between 2,000-5,000 miles on them. They technically have 0 owners still, so on a Carfax I would be listed as the 1st owner (starting with a few thousand miles though).
The build date is Feb 2019, and the build list shows "Market Introduction Vehicle". It's a CPO vehicle so warranty thru Dec 2025 at this point.
Is there any reason I should not consider this? These likely represent the earliest builds of the new platform, so that gives me some hesitation. I can get one for about $15k under original price, so it's pretty tempting especially since it has fully warranty and the options I want.
Should I get it, or run away?

I wouldn't be concerned at all. I worked for several Automobile OEMs (although not Porsche). The cars we were provided, although ostensibly to "test' and provide feedback, were really nothing more than a very nice perk that came with the job and didn't cost you a penny including car washes, gasoline, you name it. Because you essentially had an unlimited budget to take care of the car, if you didn't take perfect care of it, keeping it in immaculate condition, and making sure than every and any little thing got taken care of immediately and completely, you could expect to have a less than positive conversation with your supervisor.
you should check the post about the engine mounts service bulletin listed on this site. Seems like it's affecting early build (2019) 992's. There are other posts about first year cars as well. I'd do some research. My 992 was a July 4, 2019 build.....too many trips to the shop was the reason for its trade in. There are many gently used non-launch cars in the market, CPO'd as well. I'd look into those.

There seems to be nothing major wrong with the early builds. Some small issues, like rattles that can be fixed by the dealer (while the engine mounts recall has been the biggest), although they are shared with a great number of 992s manufactured during 2019, not just the early units. I think the "biggest" shortage might be that some of the very early 992s don't seem to have support for wireless CarPlay, only wired through USB (if it's of importance to you).
If the engine mounts recall has already been done, likely the smaller things have been addressed too (if not, relatively easy to take care of). Nothing to worry, I'd say. Many similar, originally factory owned cars are being sold as CPOs, especially in Germany. Those cars are usually very well optioned (almost invariably have PCCBs, for instance) and thus popular amongst those seeking for good deals.

What type of discount would you get if you purchased one brand new?
i’m in Europe and managed to get around 8% discount when I purchased mine brand-new Back in February.
so unless you’re in a rush to have it and don’t want to wait the delivery time, I don’t think you’re actually really saving 15,000 you’re probably more saving 5,000

I own an April 2019 build C2S designated as a "Launch Car" on the build. It was delivered new in October 2019 upon EPA/CARB approval. The only repairs have been for the engine mounts and Bose speaker replacement ( done in September 2020) plus several software updates. No rattles or any other issues except for sometimes stubborn door handle pop out that most experience. Now have about 4000 mi on odometer.

With all due respect this is not a new car, it's a used one regardless of what the carfax will say. Even with supply of new cars being apparently tight you've got to approach it that way. CPO is good though, as always.
based on the current market supply, slightly used CPO vehicles with 5,000 miles or less are not even at this price. If they are they have few options where this one I’m looking at is pretty loaded. Based on market it is under market pricing currently.
But I also get to qualify for new car financing rates, and when I go to sell I’ll be listed as the only owner. Not a huge deal but a One Owner Carfax makes it more valuable.
All I’m saying is it’s depreciated a ton already without some of the negatives of selling a 2-owner vehicle.
Oh I’m 100% eyes wide open about that!

I wouldn't worry too much about it being a launch vehicle. Mine had 4K miles on it and sold to me for $20K under MSRP, not counting that it had Xpel and pre paid service. The CPO warranty is fine and yes it does have to go in for engine mounts and the Bose speaker replacement. The dealer managed to get me new car financing at 1.95%. Mine had the sport package and PDCC, two things I probably would not have optioned. It was, however, missing the LCA which I would have optioned - easy trade off.
Appreciate your feedback on your experience.
