Anyone in TriState area

Exclusive Vinyl
Detailing Dynamics
631 Coatings

Any of these three shops will give you the job and service you expect for a fair price. About $2400 full front/rear quarter panels. Fully wrapped edges and no BS.

Ill never not have PPF again on a car like this. We have too much sand and pickup trucks on the road around here. I was noticing new chips almost every time I went for a ride. Now I drive without worry.

The PPF on my cars looks much better than your job. I'd want them to re-do some of those spots or, at the very least, address the issues in some fashion.

Drove my 992 straight from the dealer to a reputable PPF installer (bulk install, wrapped edges, etc), was able to get all painted surfaces covered for less than $5k. I applied a ceramic coating over the PPF which makes cleaning the car so much easier. Almost a year later, I don't have any of the issues the OP mentioned and agree on shopping for installer vs product. There is a certain peace of mind knowing you have film covering the paint as you hear rocks bouncing off the car.

I just had my new G550 PPF'd and ceramic coated, just the hood, front fenders, and front end and did the same to my Porsche when I got it. I would never not do it and it is always the better option for me so I do not have to see paint chips and do not have to worry about a repaint in the future that may or may not match the rest of the paint. And I do nothing to my car for the next owner!

Quote: Yeah, even in the video it looks like plastic not glossy paint. Sure it shines but something about the way it has that vinyl look and not the deep rich paint color. Run your hand over the plastic. It feels like plastic not like glass that normal paint feels like.

But I do understand why people do it. It does protect the paint for the next owner. But I would rather just appreciate the unadulterated glossy paint and take my chances with stone chips. PPF doesn't age well either. Ragged edges, marring, and tearing not to mention clouding or yellowing for some PPF.
Maybe I'm just blind, I just don't see the plasticy you talking about... I've been doing paint correction/detailing for 10+ years

I'm curious how much it costs to remove a full PPF. Also for the guys who traded in or sold their cars- do they remove before selling or turn it in and have the dealer remove it.

I just saw a dealership ad for a Certified 911 that listed the PPF as a feature/benefit.

For me, it’s partly to protect the car from chips, partly for ease of cleaning, and partly for trade-in value. I did PPF on the impact points and Modesta over the car, glass, and on the rims to repel the brake dust.

Its normal to happen and you take it back in to correct it. I love PPF as it allows me to enjoy and drive the car more rather than clean. And when i do clean, its easier because I am not worried about swirls. I love PPF because if I end up behind a semi-truck on the highway I dont have to worry. I love PPF because the car stays cleaner for longer. Did I say I love PPF?

.
I feel the same way. It's still easy to tell a car has plastic on it, as the reflection appears too deep. Rather than seeing depth of the paint color, you see depth of the gloss reflection. To each his own though.

Same here. To me it's just an unnecessary add-on, certainly doesn't add any value to the car. Plus as per this thread it seems to introduce a whole raft of new 'issues'. But some like it, which is cool.

I've never been charged to remove my PPF.

As to trade-in, it really depends. If the PPF is in good shape leave it on. If it's not, take it off.

I bet you could not tell I have Suntek on my Miami Blue Targa or Desert Silver G550...I am just the opposite and consider it necessary for any nice vehicle.

I bet I could on close inspection, maybe not from 10' away. Side by side with a car without, it definitely has a different look and feel than natural paint. Probably the most polarizing topic on the forum--those that have it say it's a must and those that don't say it's totally unnecessary.

It's all good - I will continue to get it and you will not...for the small cost and benefits I could not live without it on my vehicles.

I've bought and sold a lot of high end cars in my life because I flip them every 2-3 years (always something better or different on the horizon). I've never put PPF on any of them and never will--I keep them nicely maintained, but they're not garage queens and I don't worry about excess mileage or a little rock chip here and there and have never been dinged on trade in value. I might feel differently if I kept them longer or if they were truly mega buck collector cars.
