Hello gents-
I currently drive an F80 M3 comp. and within the next months getting into a Porsche again (owned a first gen Cayman S ).
I test drove the new 992 Carrera S in convertible version and absolutely loved the drive...however, after all my options I would come at $129k on a Carrera S coupe, sport pack, etc.
Im torn if going to newest 992 S or looking for a 991 GTS (ideally the naturally aspirated 991.1)
I assume I would have to find a manual, 2015-2016 GTS to fit my bill and probably end up paying the same amount...

I think at 129 it makes sense for 992. But what about 146? When you can get a 18 GTS for 110s..is the 992 30k more car?
You are never going to win a value argument between a new car and a CPO. CPO wins that argument every time particularly with a previous generation car that's now 3 years old.
At 146k you are also talking about a C2S that's been built to a high level -- PCCBs, upgraded interior, etc. Comparable build on a GTS can be hard to find at the price you want and the condition/ very low mileage you are looking for. If you stumble across a needle in the haystack and if it's not a total PITA to buy and if you are able to get a PPI and DME report that's positive, then sure...I would consider that car. But that's a lot of "ifs". When I was shopping around, that car did not exist.
In the meantime, you can order a 992 to your taste that is arguably the better car all the way around.
I was looking at the 991.2 GTS initially and comparing it to the 992 C2S. Here is how I decided.
1. GTS is a widebody, so is 992 C2S
2. GTS has 450 WHP, 992 C2S has 443 ( and same size turbos) so same hp increase capability with a tune )
3. Buying PDK, GTS is 7 speed, 992 is 8 speed
4. GTS has centerlock wheels - not a fan but cannot get CLs on 992 C2S
5. GTS comes with Alcantara interior, I hate Alcantara and I can get Sport Tex (I love it) in 992
6. GTS steering is stil a bit lacking, 992 is much better
7. GTS has same track as all 991.2s, 992 has wider track
8. GTS is lighter, 992 is about 60 lbs. heavier depending on configuration
9. GTS is hard to find in a configuration I like but I can design the 992 with what I want
Yes, sort of like how the Grand Canyon is just like a hole in the ground.
And, mind you, I think the 992 chassis is fantastic. But a 991.1 GT3 it is most definitely not.
thanks for opinion!
991.1 GT3 never was my own, but I had tried it few years ago in Porsche experience program. Great car. And I was very surprised about 992 just after few drives. On track this car very close in emotions exactly to 991.1 GT3 (non-RS), not in engine, but in chassis. On regular roads 992 is completely different from Mine 991.2 speedster or my friend’s 991.2 Targa, it’s more comfortable.
