I didn't have a 991.2 GTS, but I had a highly-optioned 991.2 S, and went to a modestly/moderately-optioned 992 S.

I think they're both pretty much AAA-grade cars, I probably slightly prefer the 992, but by all means whatever calls out to your heart go with.

OP, I was in the same situation last November. I drove both. I went with the GTS. Smaller [objective], lighter [objective], more torque [objective], equivocal lap times [objective], better craftsmanship (subjective - less plastic on rear bumper, no piano gloss on the interior), better rear profile (subjective). I’ve been very happy. Yes, fewer screens but I’m not really driving my car for technology.

There are a lot of threads on this topic. Good news is they are both 911’s so you can’t go wrong.

Last thought, this is the 992 forum so there may be some bias here versus if you post on the 991 board which will have a 991 bias.

i actually have read that the 992 is bigger than the 991.2 in countless articles, and you mention here it’s an “objective fact”.

a 991.2 widebody (including GTS) has the same wheelbase , width, and height (to the tenth of an inch) as the 992, and the 992’s length is 1 inch, or 0.5% longer, say the thickness of a license plate mount.

I just think it’s odd that I hear so many times that it’s a larger car, it could barely be more the same identical size.

RL will pull anything out of the woodworks to justify their purchases. It is the RL way lol

But, but ... that means it is bigger.

i think there’s probably a way to win this argument that I haven’t thought of yet. Perhaps the underside is a bit more concave.

If there was a local, low miles GTS with PCCBs in the right color and perfect condition, I would have been tempted. I think the deciding factor for me would end up being money saved. I don’t like the 991.2 interior but everything else about the GTS is pretty good.

Have you driven both? If not you should. And if you asked this question in the 991 Forum you would get the opposite of what most here post. For what it is worth I waited to order a car until I saw what the 992 looked like, and then I ordered a 991.2 GTS. I did not and do not care for the 992 and I could care less about tech...I do not even own a smartphone; however, I liked the way the 991.2 looked in & out so much better. Needless to say, only you can make the decision.

Like others have said, drive both for a longer period and it will certainly help in your decision. I was in your situation less than 6 months ago, drove several different versions of 911. Chose the 992 C2S and am very happy with my purchase!! GL

I was in this exact position about 18 months ago. I walked into a showroom in the UK and they had a 991.2 GTS in Night Blue that I was able to negotiate a fantastic deal on. Had it 10 months and then ordered a 992. Both amazing cars. For me its about price, and the deal. The 991.2 seemed smaller and is 98% as quick as the 992. As others have already said, the 992 has better steering and tech.

So if they cost the same, I would go for the 992, if the 991.2 was say 15/20% cheaper then it's a much better deal if you can live without the latest tech. To be fair the 991.2 telematics are OK and don't detract from an already good car.

Great position to be in, good luck!

Tom
