Default 992 4S or 991.2 Turbo S

Assuming both fit within my budget, which of the above would you choose and why?

I like the look of both and I’m leaning more towards the Turbo S, but maybe I’m missing something.

Several threads on this. The 992 owners say 992, the current 991.2 TTS owners say 991.2. Some of have owned both and say 992 -- but of course currently own a 992.

992 is obviously newer - with all the pros and cons that brings.

Speed is similar but the TTS is faster.

Looks are subjective.

The 992 sounds better and has better steering.

Turbo S depreciation has always been serious business. With the arrival of the new 992 TTS, the 991.2 TTS depreciation is going to take an even bigger hit. A used 991.2 purchased now is going to be on an even further accelerated depreciation curve in the coming months.

If you can get a banging deal, sure go for it — it’s a great car, but faced with the same decision, I went with the 992 C4S and haven’t looked back. The 992 cars are a significant improvement over the 991.2.

You need to sit in both and drive both to find your answer.

I would only get the Turbo if you want the quicker acceleration and you prefer the visuals of the Turbo. Both of which are very good reasons, I think :-)

The Porsche TTS cars are hard to match in performance by almost any priced exotic. Got to go to a 720S before you surpass the ease at which the TTS cars get to speed and then move to easy cruising for a night out to dinner. I'm probably biased after owning several TT cars but they are awesome machines that do everything extremely well. And who doesn't love a 3.8 Twin Turbo with a great exhaust

I purchased a .2 TTS from Porsche Fresno. I'm really happy with my decision. Both spectacular automobiles, but the TTS is unmatched. I went with the TTS because I like the interior styling better than the 4S. The reasons I was contemplating the 4S were the updated electronics and the rear fascia primarily the oval shaped exhaust, but after seeing both in person it was an easy decision for me.

This is just how I found it having owned both, but my 991 turbo was a much smoother engine than my 992 Carerra 4S, the old 3.8 litre engine was so smooth and effortless, but the 3.0 litre of the 4S seems a little....should I say it....rough in comparison particularly at lower revs.
I have an M4 CP bought new in 2017 and actually prefer it. I found the 4S good fun but personally think the bigger CC of the 3.8 made it more enjoyable and I wish I had kept my old Turbo.
That said doesn't mean I didn't enjoy my 7 months ownership with the 4S, I did, but I have traded it now at best price and placed an order for the 992 turbo. If the bigger engine doesn't satisfy me I'm a lost cause!!

Porsche sucks at doing electronics so when buying a porsche that has my least consideration, esp nowadays carplay is all I need

I've posted this before, but having owned a Turbo, I find the C2S a more enjoyable drive. Part of that comes down to the RWD dynamics - the car is just more fun to drive.

All that said, no offense, but no way I'd get a 991.2 TTS now. The 992 TTS is going to make the 991.2 look ancient in comparison.

Agree with you on the 992 TTS, but this will hold me over until they finally hit the showrooms. There would have to be significant improvements to warrant paying such a premium beyond speed and electronics.

From what I've read they've "fixed" the Turbo.

The 991.2 TT/TTS is an incredible performer, but it has a certain gravitas to the way it drives. It doesn't feel as tossable, IMO. Supposedly Porsche has addressed the driving dynamics of the Turbo.

Personally, I think the 992 TTS is alot cooler looking than the 991.2, but that's personal opinion.

I have a 992 C4S. I had a 991.1 Turbo. I am not sure that I would go back to the older interior and instrumentation. The interior of the 991 looks so dated now to me. Turbo S will be a better performer, but I think as a daily the C4S has more than enough performance. I have a Mclaren 720S spider, and the 992 doesn't feel like a "slow" car.
