Default PDLS Xenon vs LED Matrix Cutoff Pics??

I'm looking at a possible build and have been mulling over the options for a couple of months. Previously, I was the original owner of an LSB E46 M3 built to spec. I had a headlight modification done to my bi-xenons in 2012 called "TFX", which were Acura TSX lenses known for their unparalleled clarity and Infinity FX projectors. This was pretty much the best light output and distribution before LED became mainstream. What I really loved about it was the beautiful purple cutoff at the top of the light pattern because of the clarity of the projector lens. From my research so far, it looks like the 991 LED matrix option has this ultra clear lens stock, but I'm not sure about the 992. Can anyone confirm if the xenon PDLS+ have the same clear lens or if it is a fresnel lens? Are the LED lenses on the 992 still ultra clear as on the 991? If anyone can post pics of their 992 xenon and/or LED cutoff, it would be greatly appreciated! Below is a cutoff pic from my M3 TFX conversion:

All 992's have led headlights...they are just different regarding how they perform and the number of LEDs.

Thank you! Good info. It looks like the lenses for the standard lighting and matrix lighting are different. Can anyone post pics against their garage door?

I can help. How far from the garage door to the car?

Sweet thanks! Not in a rush, but I would like to talk to a dealer soon to get the process rolling. I would say maybe ~10ft away. I guess just pull up to a point where you're seeing the bluish/purple line at the top of the cutoff, and please specify which lighting option you chose!

I have LED Matrix lights. There is actually no blue/purple fringe. It's a solid horizon of white, very hard cutoff.

I have the “standard” lights afaik - TBH I’m not sure what PLDS adds (I should do more research next time). My cutoff has a slight purple/yellow line.

PDLS adds adaptive headlights function with high-beam assist. LED Matrix option has individual LEDs instead of a single projector that help to create a blind-free high beam but that function is disabled in the USA.

Ah right, forgot about the dazzle feature. I have the auto-high beam, although I haven't had a chance to test it - I wasn't a huge fan in previous cars as it felt like it would stay on longer than I cared for (or sometimes not shut off at all).

Thanks for the photos guys. I'm really surprised. Can anyone check to see if the lens is a "fresnel lens"? This means it not a crystal clear projector, but has lines in it to break up the light pattern, thus softening the cutoff. The photo I've attached is from a youtube guy who compared 991.2 xenons vs LEDs so I thought the 992 would use a similar lens, at least for LED.

So you have auto highs? There are 4 headlight options; the standard (which I'm guessing you had), PDLS+ which uses the same LED config, but adds the steering directional lighting and automatic high beams, and then the Matrix LED/Black Matrix. Did you go with no cost option headlights or pay $1200 for the PDLS+? Because on the configurator, it says the $1200 option is what gives you automatic high beams. I'd rather save the money as well.

These are the options for my VIN:

I guess the Premium Package comes with PDLS Plus, which I didn't realize - I thought there was a label on the inside of the headlights indicating this.

Center projector. It’s technically not a fresnel but it’s not a smooth lens either.

Not sure why we are here comparing which headlight out of these very well-performing lights has got a clearer cut-off line. I don't think I've ever paid attention to it and I have adaptive LEDs. The cut-off line was originally intended to just be a tool for adjusting the aim of the light at yearly tech inspections so that you're not blinding others with your badly set-up headlights. And none of the 992 LEDs have a cut-off so soft they're gonna glare everyone

Ryan, thanks for the photos. I guess I will stick with the standard headlights.

And, I'm not worried about causing glare to oncoming drivers, I just really like the ultra clear lens like the S2000 or Acura TSX because the cutoff is so sharp that there's a purple line at the top. If it was a different lens config with the more expensive lighting options, I'd opt for it just for that feature.
