As a shareholder of POAHY, I am all for Porsche making as much profit per vehicle as it possibly can.

That ticker is for Porsche SE, which owns 31.3% of Volkswagen AG, along with owning Porsche Design, Porsche Engineering, and INRIX. Porsche AG, which is the entity that actually makes the cars, is 100% owned by Volkswagen AG.Originally Posted by 992Sam

Porsche SE is really the family investment vehicle of the Porsche and Piech families, as they own 50% of the shares and 100% of the voting rights to Porsche SE.

So the Porsche family owns 31% of VW, which owns 100% of Porsche AG (the actual manufacturer)? ... hmm.. okOriginally Posted by frankchn

15% of VW, since they own only half the shares of Porsche SE, but otherwise yeah. Other major shareholders of VW include Qatar’s Sovereign Wealth Fund, and the state of Lower Saxony (HQ of VW is within this state).Originally Posted by 992Sam

I don't see many 911's in my neck of the woods. However; when I do, most of the time there's an acknowledged wave or head nod when passing by. Not so much with the other Porsche variants, but definitely the 911 crowd. Originally Posted by markchristenson

Like you and waving wildly at Harley riders (haha!) I'll viciously turn my head away from anyone waving to me in a Cayenne or Macan! I don't care how hot she is!

I appreciate every Macan and Cayenne helping to subsidize my interests. However the sausage gets made.
If Porsche wants to make Cayennes, Macans and Boxsters/Caymans I say go for it. If it wasn't for some of those models we might not have an active Porsche 911 forum. They saved the bacon of a struggling company. Instead of taking them down it has pushed them up.
Those sales help fund 911 development and keep the brand healthy and growing. My wife's had 2 Cayennes and on her second Macan and there is a little real Porsche in both models.
And if they can make the profits they are and we keep buying I say hats off to them they must be doing something right.

ExploreWhat's with the Macan hate? I need a 4 door vehicle with hauling capability and all weather traction, but I want to drive one that's not too large, is relatively quick and handles well. It also has to be good looking, comfortable, and well built. For me, there is no other car that fits the bill like a Macan. Take one out on a winding mountain road, and you'll see that it really is a Porsche.

not so much hate as tired of the equivocation between it and the 911...Originally Posted by tgcrun

I've driven one, and I've also driven an Audi Q5... can't tell the difference.
IF I were in the SUV market again, sure I'd get one... it's not hate, as much as fatigue.

We all know the history behind the "savior" SUV's... no need to hash that out again lol
And besides, when's the last time a Porsche SUV has waved at your 911? I've never had it happen. Soooo... ya

As someone who's been driving 911s for over 30 years, I wouldn't dream of treating a 911 and Macan (or any Porsche sedan/suv) as equals. That be being said, we sort of have the same car. Chalk on the outside, red/black on the inside, all wheel drive, heated steering wheel, PDK, ventilated seats, etc. You have exquisite taste. Originally Posted by 992Sam
