992 > 991.2?

Greetings everyone!
I'm a newbie, looking forward to purchasing/leasing my 1st new base 911 cabriolet. I apologize if this has been discussed prior, but just had some quick questions:
For those of you that have driven both the 992 and the 991.2, is there a big difference in terms of handing and responsiveness of the throttle between the 2 models?
Also, with regards to the seat options - which seat option has the most cushioning and is the most comfortable? I don't really care about the adjustments and what not, just looking for the most comfortable ride. I've heard the basic 4-way are the most comfortable because the bolstering of the more complex seats add some rigidity? Is this true?
Again, I really do appreciate your insights and help!
Thank you!

I have driven both, currently own a 991.2 and have a 992 on order. To me, the 992 is significantly better.

I have driven both as well. I was considering a 2019 991.2 GTS (Manual) but ended up finding a 992 C4s Manual and bought it instead. Mine is my daily driver, and from a tech and modern feel - the 992 is significant upgrade to the 991.2 (and the 991.1 I had before). It is like stepping into a completely different car from a tech and comfort standpoint - I mean light years ahead.
As far as driving and feel. I think the 991.2 GTS I was looking at vs the 992 C4s they are close and felt very similar from a drive, stability, etc. Of course the 992 being a C4S and the one I was looking at was a 991.2 GTS (the performance of the 992 has improved that much, and I believe the 992 C4S or S to be on par with the previous generation 991.2 GTS. That is how much better the performance is in the 992. the 992 GTS will be a beast.
So if you want modern feel, tech, etc. the 992 is way ahead of the 991 generation, by a long shot.

I just drove the 991.2 a few times, but there is enough improvement from what I can see to justify it if you're not financially very strapped... The 991.2 is however a stupendous car if you're driving a later model, makes sense to wait a bit before trading / selling it.

You need to drive both to decide and it depends very much on whether you want the latest and greatest techie stuff. I have a 19 GTS which I bought after the 992's came out. I'm clearly biased. To me there is no performance difference between these 2 cars, I like the old school analog dash and button set-up, and I much prefer the look of the 991.2 - especially the back end. Get what excites you and don't let others talk you into anything else.

I went from a 997.2 to a 992.
The 991... either iteration... I dunno. Wasn’t for me. It didn’t feel a generation better, frankly. The driving experience felt like a kid’s gloves version of the 997. And while the interior was... different, I don’t know if I’d go so far as to say it was a significant upgrade. The layout was perhaps not as nicely thought-out, and much of the tech stuff remained pretty 997-era (even if the screen got better) until like 2017, towards the end of the model life.
The 992 feels like the next-gen 911 to me. It’s psychotically fast- meaning even while some of the kid’s gloves features of the 991 remain, the sheer speed of the beast requires the driver chops of earlier 911s. and the interior is a significant upgrade, with all the tech befitting a modern car.
As always, YMMV. Just my two cents.
I will say the long-awaited OS update for the 992 can’t come soon enough for me. A few software bugs need ironing out... Homelink, Comfort Access, Porsche Connect, etc...

This is a good point. The 991.2 Carrera (not GTS) felt underpowered, really. I remember thinking "this feels like a really nice BMW". I much preferred the 997, which at least felt more tossable and had much better steering. The 992 has just enough power and feedback to make it feel like an actual sports car (not that I want to start that debate again).

Base 992(4) feels like a solidly quick luxurious car, not per se a sportscar ... too heavy and not enough punch (NM/torque) for that ... otherwise really nice ... an no, NOT as punchy as the 991.2s. As for responsiveness: REALLY responsive for a turbocar 👍

If it's your daily driver get a 992. If it's a weekend car get a Turbo or Turbo S 991.2. I have driven both and that's my opinion on it. The 992 has all the creature comforts but the Turbo or Turbo S from the last generation is super badass.

Read an interesting snippet in Excellence and, though I’m not sure I totally agree with it, there is some truth to it at least with respect to the 991.
