Default Car saves then seems to forget my Porsche ID

I’ve entered my pairing code twice and loaded my Porsche ID twice to my car, but it’s dropped the Porsche ID both times. I think there was a thread on here about this issue and I’ve searched for it but can’t seem to find it.

First time it saved it, it forget it by the next time I drove it.

Second time, it was there a few drives, then gone. I’ve associated it with my driver profile and only use a single key with no other drivers or keys being used. Online, the car is properly and consistently recognized under my vehicles.

Any tips/tricks/resolutions? TIA!

There is a menu selection item under SETTINGS that allows selection of whether it needs to be entered each time. Even with that selected properly I have been required to re-enter paring code on two occasions. When I called Porsche Customer service I was told that some software update they did in Germany caused this problem requiring customers to re-enter. First I would check your settings. The paring code is easily available on the dash screen but I keep it on a card for quick entry if needed.

Within the settings in the PCM, there is a way to set your ID as the default each time the car is started. I was having a similar issue with mine where the car would forget my Porsche ID and once I adjusted that settings, its been flawless ever since.

Next time you enter your Porsche ID code, follow the prompts. It should ask, and then bring you to the menu that shows four options to check. Mine is checked under driver profile.

yeah, the system is pretty spotty in my experience. i'll go a week or two with no problem, then out of the blue it will forget my porsche ID and i have to enter it again. i have it set to automatically link to my driver profile, but it still fails sometimes for no reason. i've also tried linking it to my cell phone and get the same results. it will work just fine for a few days, then poof, it will forget. no rhyme or reason.

For me, sometimes it successfully automatically logs in. Sometimes, it doesn't. I presume that they'll sort it out at some point. I don't fuss with it, because it doesn't seem to affect vehicle operation.

Had this happen again yesterday. I checked the settings and the selection had reverted to "enter paring code each time" . I had selected "use driver profile".
This has happened at least two times before. I called Porsche Customer Service on earlier occasion and they said that Porsche in Germany had done a software update that caused some customers code to be needed to be re-entered. Very annoying. I had made no changes in selection myself.

Sounds like this along with CA has mixed results. Ever since I switched it to recognize driver profile. I never had to re-enter my Porsche Connect pairing code.

Same deal here on both our 9Y0 Cayenne Turbo and the new 992 C2S. I've taken enough cheap shots at Porsche coding here. But that's where the blame falls.

We just live with it, occasionally having to re-input the info when the system loses it.

FWIW it is not likely this has to do much with Porsche, but rather whatever company holds the contract for Porsche Connect. We have never been happy with Porsche Connect since it was first offered for our 2016 Macan.

Not just limited to the 992. My 2020 Macan PCM does the same thing, no rhyme or reason. In my situation, my gut feeling is that it has to do with the Apple CarPlay sync. The initial recognition of the phone happens over Bluetooth and CarPlay uses Wifi (at least for wireless CarPlay). When CarPlay kicks it, BlueTooth is turned off. If the PCM hasn't recognized the phone over Bluetooth by that point of the boot process, your ID is gone for that session.

I ended up just moving that tile off my main screen. It annoyed me to no end seeing the message that my Porsche ID is not connected. I've only used it to sync a few favorites to the NAV system and that's it.

Not in our case. We've never used CarPlay in either vehicle. Not to say that your problem couldn't be caused by it, though. Lots of ways to do bad coding...
