Default Race-tex interior

With Porsche doing away with the Alcantara interiors and replacing with "Race-tex," do you think the 2021 992 will have the same interior options the taycan has (you can configure race-tex interior on the configurator). what do you all think of this interior? I couldn't find any real pictures of this but looks nice.

From my understanding - Race tex is very similar to Alcantera - just a different maker.

I would not option RaceTex on a 911.

GT cars, maybe.

Regular 911, no.

GTS models have always had Alcantara seat inserts with leather bolsters; I think we can expect the same from the 992 GTS except now with Race-Tex.

991s also had kind of a hidden option of Alcantara inserts for non-GTS models; it was available only with full black leather interior and 18-ways or folding buckets. With Sport-Tex now available, I don't expect that to ever return on non-GTS cars, though.

Good for you. And I'd never option leather seats if I could, at least not without ventilation.

Check out the UK configurator. All the 2021 options are loaded there (except Shark Blue). Other than the addition of the Exclusiv Manufakturer interiors, all interiors options remain the same.

Three textures on a seat is one too many.

the pic looks just like Alcantara to me; there's a lot of haters of Alcantara out there, but the fact remains that the material is more grippy than leather. Durability is a toss-up. If you have a lot of kids with peanut butter hands all over it, you may want to go leather.

The race-tex and alcantera are nearly identical - just different manufactures (Alcantera is a name brand). Porsche supplier must now be sport-tex and race-tex for their alternate supplier of fabric. The other advantage of alcantera/race-tex is that it is lighter than leather. My McLaren seats are around 6lbs lighter than the full leather versions in the lux model. For race cars, etc. the grip is better and lighter.

That being said - I am getting a little tired of alcantera - have it in a few cars (it was standard). For a DD I would not want it (the cars I have it in are fun cars, not DD's). They are a bit harder to clean, with leather, you just wipe off with some leather cleaner.

Agree Alcantara wears fast, not sure if race-tex is any better or worse tho. I have a nice carbon fiber steering wheel on my Panamera that actually has CF on the steering wheel, I just dont like how they used it on the 992s.

Would be cool to get some GTS interior styling without having to wait for a GTS.
