Default 4S versus Ferrari Cali

Ok so I haven’t really DRIVEN my wife’s new 4S. I have a Ferrari Cali. Today I decided to give the 992 a run. I switched it into manual and sport and took off.
One word....WOW
Manual shifting is seamless and incredibly smooth. Much more so than the Ferrari.
The car is incredibly quick. I found it to be as quick as our 991.2 turbo that we traded in for the 992
The PSE sounds awesome! Lots of clicks and gurgles. The Ferrari does sound better.
The Ferrari is straight line faster but the 911 is WAY more agile.
Bottom line the 992 is a beast. I was VERY impressed. Love it.

Which do you find quicker off the line to 60mph/100kph? Not much in it I assume but the 911 is pretty hard to beat in real world conditions in my experience, particularly a 4S.

Most of that makes sense. The 992 4s should likely handle better. However, it should also be as quick if not possibly quicker in a straight line than the California (if you have launch control...speaking 0-60 of course). Finally, I don't think there is any way the 992 4s is as quick as your 991.2 Turbo (unless you had some amazing tune done on that 4s). Regardless, awesome to hear your thoughts on it versus the California. Maybe you'll have to make a swap with your wife on the DD.

My Cali T is fast as heck straight line 0-60. Remember it is 540 hp+. It also has launch control. It will take the 911 off the line. But by no means is it a easy contest.
I can’t wait to drive the 992 turbo.

There is NO way my wife gives up her 911. She loves it. We did the Porsche experience in Atlanta A few years ago and she has been hooked ever since. She is now wanting to go to the Porsche driving school in Alabama. She drives the heck out of that car. A little scary at times. 😱
Believe it or not the 992 4S will hang with the 991.2 turbo initially. The turbo had more high end torque and will eventually pull away but I was blown away by the quickness and power of the 992. I would not have believed it either.
The California HS package helps some with the handling but the 992 out maneuvers the Cali quite easily. You have to be careful accelerating in tight corners with the Cali... you can lose the back end into a slide. I don’t think a non 4 wheel would do as well but I haven’t driven the 2 wheel drive 992. We also have rear axle steering option. I don’t care what anyone says I can definitely feel the difference of rear axle steering even in the 4S. That thing turns on a dime.

Having owned both I believe it. Triple digits, the Turbo (probably) walks a 992. But with regular driving, the sensation of thrust is similar.

I also can really hear the turbo spool up in this one - similar to the Turbo.

The driving experience is a trip! I have the RAS in my 991.2 and love it, good to hear you are enjoying it in the new 992. I'm intrigued to try the new 992 turbo s and see how it compares. Great write up again and thanks for the comparison information!

The Ferrari California is tested at 3.3s to 60 from what I'm seeing on line here and there. The 992 has been tested anywhere from 2.8 to very low 3s.

I don't think your Cali T would take the P car off the line, not with launch control and competent drivers in both.

maybe maybe not but I’m telling you the Cali is an absolute beast straight line speed. I have outrun older 911 turbos easily. Both are very quick but getting out of one and into the other the Cali feels heavier but very fast.
The equalizer is the Ferrari is larger and heavier. Would be a fun race. But let’s face it its more speed than we should legally use lol!

I have a GTC4 Lusso and a 992 C4s...the only place the lusso is faster is above 100 mph from a roll...my 992 has it beat it everywhere else (which is 98 percent of road driving), and the lusso has 680 hp. But both fantastic for different reasons haha.

C&D has the California T 0-60 in 3.3 vs the 992 C2S in 3.0...but the Ferrari is a tick quicker to 100, a bit faster in the 1/4, and 5-60 the Ferrari is 3.9 vs the C2S in 4.2. So, yeah, you would need launch control to beat the Ferrari off the line.

A little off topic but still in the ballpark, I would love to run my LP570 SL against my 992. Both have 0-60 times in the 2.9 range. SL is AWD and lighter. 992 PDK is much faster than the Lambo. Would be fun!!
