Default Wheel and Tire Security

Can’t wait for my 992 to arrive in April. However, I live in a good area but a recent number of wheel and tire thefts in the area is very concerning.
According to police this is a well organized group who mainly steal Honda wheels. I only have a garage for the winter but have a well light driveway with security camera and motion sensors. The wheels on the Porsche look very tempting and think thieves today will steal anything. I’m not sure if the 992 comes with wheel locks but does anyone use some sort of wheel theft deterrent on their vehicle ?

Honda wheels are much easier to sell than 992 wheels. It’s the same reason that Honda airbags get stolen. There’s a lot of demand for Honda and Toyota parts. In general, the more expensive the car, the less of a need for wheel locks.

It should be noted that wheel locks are also easy to defeat for more professional thieves. These kids are packing Li On Impact wrenches nowadays.

The 911 doesn’t come with them. As someone who left his wheel lock key at home once, I don’t bother with them anymore.

Yes and always. The Porsche factory wheel locks should be enough to give any amateur thief pause to move on to the next victim. A true professional may go after them anyway. For $100, it's cheap insurance. Think "The Club" from the 1980s.

We've purchased factory wheel locks on every vehicle we've ever purchased, going back 30 years. Never had a wheel go missing. And we've parked in some rough areas from time to time.

Now, if Porsche would do a better job securing headlights... from the 9Y0 Cayenne forum, a Rennlister came back to find his wife's brand-new 2020 looking like this. Claim was $13K -- car spent six weeks at the dealer.

Lots of demand out there for Cayenne and Macan headlights. There are advantages to driving cars with lower production volumes.

1) A dog to alert if someone is in your driveway
2) A 45 to stop this someone
3) A suppressor to not wake up the neighbor

By wheel lock are you referring to the nut on the wheel that requires a key to unscrew? If so, my 992 came with them. I had to hunt for the key when I changed tires, but it was stashed in the frunk.

Probably a dealer installed option.

My C2S came with these too as standard. I live in the USA and have the Spider RS wheels, curious as to whether these lock nuts come with the base wheels.

You need to find a garage for the other part of the year.
