Default 0 - 60 992 4S vs Turbo S

So has anyone taken a 992 4S against a 991.2 Turbo S ? I know Porsche misstates it’s time but just how fast is the new 992 4S??

The US spec C4S has done 0-60 2.8s in magazine tests. So, it’s not as quick as the 991.2 Turbo S (2.6-2.7s), but a sub 3 second time is pretty astounding for a 911 Carrera. The US spec C2S does the feat in 2.9s.

It should be noted that the blistering 0-60 time shouldn’t be confused with top end speed and thrust. At triple digits, that is where the TTS/Turbo cars really show their power difference.

The Getawayer has a great video on the Turbo and to your point suggests that finding a place to properly stretch its legs is the only limiting factor on performance.

I belong to a private track ( Area 27 ) in B.C. Canada. I am wondering which one to buy. On the main straight the TTS should see 230 KMH

TTS is going to be faster.

Like others said - it's at triple digits that a TTS really starts to pull away from other cars.

0-60, the advantage is not as significant (though the TTS is still faster). The 992 is listed at 3.5 sec; 0-60 which feels wrong to me. It feels like a 3 second car or less to 60. I'm trading in an M5 competition which has a listed 0-60 of 3.1 seconds and the 992 feels faster at street speeds. That's subjective though - I have no data to back that up. TTS is probably ~2.5 sec to 60mph.

From what I've seen some have hit 3 sec and 1/4 mile in 10 range with a C4s.

At this level of performance, 1/4 mile is probably a more useful metric. The TTS will pull on a 992 in a straight line.

Beyond sheer velocity, I think the 992 is more fun to drive.

Get the Turbo S as it is on a whole different level than an S. Whole different level car, a lot more speed, power, and acceleration.

The Getawayer reviewed the Turbo S and it was a great review - and he said at the end- you look at the car and it says "do you want a taste of my performance"?

I keep going back and forth but I think the TTS is still a lot more car. I have a feeling that once I feel the acceleration it will be hard to go to a slower car. One reviewer said if it’s not within your means don’t drive one. Good advice.

the TTS holds true to its reputation. You’re looking at super car performance on public roads. My biggest issue with the TTS is how quickly it surpasses speed limits. It’s the best car I’ve ever owned and driven, which is a double edged sword.

I would disagree. I used to own a 991.2 Turbo and my current Porsche is a 993. Despite being way way down on power in comparison, the older car is more enjoyable to drive,

The 992 is plenty fast - it certainly doesn't feel much slower than a TTS on public roads, but it does feel more tossable.

Massive acceleration is no longer special, in this day of EVs, and most higher tier cars are pretty damn fast.

The TTS is a supercar though, and if you have an itch for that then you won't be satisfied with anything else.

The irony of my ownership experience with the Turbo, is that it made me appreciate the more subtle things. It makes you unimpressed with power. I would have never appreciated the 993 as much had I not owned a Turbo.

Every new car I got - I was pre-occupied with pushing the envelope for acceleration and power. Owning a car with 0-60 in the 2 range changed my perspective. I still love a super fast car, but acceleration can't be the only thing anymore. On a street car, that is just not enough to keep me interested. A car with 0-60 in the high 2s to 3.0 seconds, like the 992, is still fast enough to deliver.

That's just a general statement though. The TT/TTS has more going for it than straight line speed. Just saying the idea that you can never go back from it has not been my experience.

You can’t feel the limits of the tts on a public road. It always has more to give far past “go to jail” speed. Way far.

If you’re really torn, you can test them both at Porsche Experience Center (Atlanta, LA, or Birmingham)
