Default 992 ecu vs 991.2 ecu?

Are these the same? And will we be seeing tunes any time soon?

They’re different. I saw somewhere that the 992 has a Bosch ecu (MG1CP007).

There are bench tunes available where you have to send in your ECU — alternately, by a shop if you’re lucky enough to be near one. COBB doesn’t have AccessPort support for it yet.

The 992 is very much a different car than the 991.2.

Thanks for the info. I do vaguely recall hearing rumors the 992 platform would be a bit tougher to crack. Couldnt remember the details. Oh well, they always find a way.
The bigger turbos on the 992 should lend themselves nicely to some top end power

Actually relatively easier to crack at this time, no need to physically open the unit, just unlock it on the bench. The tune proceeds via OBD port. The process is at this stage likely due to this ECU being quite ubiquitous throughout the VW range (eg Audi). I believe mclarens also use it.

I think OBD will take time. The 991.2 initially needed to have the ECU literally opened to write directly in the chips. That did scare me a bit.

A friend of mine uses ByDesign out of LA on all of his Porsche's. He reached out when I took delivery of the 992 and said they have something in Beta right now and are seeing very good results. Reach out to Sam if you want more details.

We just released software for the 992 S models, gains of +85 HP & +59 TQ to be had, here are more details...

Currently the software requires you to send us the ECU but we are working on being able to flash via the OBD2 port and will let everyone know when we have that ready.
