Default Does Bose still suck for 992?

Starting to spec out a 992.. and thinking about Audio.

My perspective is based on my current 991.1 (2014) and the Bose that was less than stellar.. We used to argue, and depending on your perspective it was somewhere between awful and barely acceptable.

Myself I managed to adjust settings so that the sound tolerable with a digital source such as an iPhone/iPod.. THe FM performance was awful and on occasions when listening to something on AM (eg sports) the sound hurt my ears. So I was never a fan of the Bose and vowed I'd spend the money on Burmeister next time or just go with the basic.

I haven't really looked at the issue in a while but does anyone know if the 991.2's had better Bose audio performance? Anyone have any opinions on the Bose audio performance on the 992?
Thanks
Steve

It's fine and perfectly acceptable, superior to the base system. I contemplated the Burmeister system, but the Bose is fine. The 911 deserves more than the "basic" sound offering.

I listened to the Bose before I ordered by C2 Cab and I thought it sounded fine. Not as good as the Bowers & Wilkins in my X5 but perfectly acceptable. I’m not an audiophile however. They didn’t have a car with Burmester so I can’t compare vs Bose.

To me the soundtrack of a 911 is the engine and exhaust. Bose sound systems have never sounded good to me so I opted for the base on my 991.2. Don't regret it for a second, I love listening to the sports exhaust and even when I do use it for music its adequate.

I have the Bose system on my 992 C2S. I’m very satisfied with how it sounds; a very clear natural, open sound with just the right amount of low end punch. Definitely an improvement over the Harman Kardon system I had in my previous BMW M3

I test drove a 991.1 C2 and thought the Bose sounded terrible. I currently have Bose with my 992 C2S and think it sounds decent. So, anecdotal but I think it may have improved.

‘Thanks for the comparison.. Sounds like they must have improved.. No surprise since it was very maligned on the 991.1.. I’ll have to go by a dealer and try it out...

yeah, yeah of course.. that’s the same tired old line I used to use myself... but when it’s your daily driver and you have a commute it’s can be more important... In the 991.1 the Bose was so bad I could barely even listen to it... That said we all have our own things that are important..

The Bose in the 992 definitely sounds better than in the 991.

I don't believe it's any significant change in the Bose system, but more like the acoustics and sound dampening in the cabin.

The Bose in my 991.2 is horrible. Absolutely get the Burmester without question.

I don't love music that much so i opted for the base system. I have a BMW with Harman and I have to say the base 992 stereo is not bad compared to this one.
Try listening to the base one before deciding.

The 911 is not made to sound as a BMW

it s made to be coherent with iconic 911 design keeping the weight low where cheap and possible

thus the low sound capabilities make any bose or burmester useless
unless you are a dumb or mediocre audiophile

also as should be, the low insulation let the rear wheels and engine mechanical sound and noises to enter into the cabin destroying any music quality
