Dealer recently told me I could upgrade the Base 992 computer system and have it running as if not faster but as fast as the 992 S... Anyone know if this is true or just some BS the dealer is trying to sell me on getting the base model?

Do you think its a big difference? I mean, forking over 10k+ just for the "S" logo? Or you're saying its much more than that?

If you want a tune and get more power, the S is a better starting point. Frankly, the S premium is a bargain if power is your priority. Plus, you can get options not available on the base.
Yes, you can put a tune on the Base that will up the power, but it's doubtful that you'll cover that performance delta on a tune alone. You'll likely need to go with different air filters and exhaust (better cats) to actually exceed an S. Remember, it's not just 64 more HP at peak -- it's more HP everywhere. You'll blow through that $10k pretty quickly, because those parts aren't cheap in the Porsche aftermarket. By doing any of this stuff, warranty goes *poof*. You become the warranty and repairs when things go wrong aren't cheap.
Anyone who tells you that a dealer can't detect the use of a COBB AccessPort is lying. When you make a warranty claim, they'll look for the darnedest indications that the software is altered. Folks who think that they're clever with ECU swaps don't understand that things like engine starts are compared to the odometer values to see if the numbers make sense.
Additional note, it's not entirely clear that the S and Base cars share the identical block and engine accessories. I would not be surprised if the S also sported bigger injectors, fuel pump, etc to complement those larger turbo chargers.

Another thing is if you want 4 wheel drive (as I do) there are options you cannot get.. and as the others mentioned there is larger (stock) brakes, suspension differences, and of course the guaranteed 64hp difference..

Sounds like the salesman trying to move a base model off the lot. Don't get me wrong - the base is great, but it's not going to be more powerful than the S without voiding your warranty, as others have pointed out.
