Default Feedback on Build

I’ve been on the fence for a used 991.2 GT3 manual, or a new 992 S manual. This past year I was able to test drive quite a few 911 models, and none of the 991.2 modes appeal to me, other than the GT3. Basically, I love the NA engine and feel. BUT, I did drive a PDK 992 S and can’t believe how different the overall driving experience was and the acceleration compared to a 991.2. Nice improvement. So now, I need to wait for the manuals to roll out and test drive one. Not sure if it’ll check all of my boxes, but it might and I need to test it. I am a fan of the redesign and they did a great job with the interior.

So, if I end up with a 992, this will be the build, but I’m not sure if I’m committed to the chalk color yet, so it may change to guards red or yellow. Id like to get some feedback on maybe adding some small tidbits or changing some things around. I always appreciate people’s’ feedback.

Awesome! Chalk is an underrated color. I think it looks great! I’d consider adding the red tach to match the chrono dial.. but I like the options you’ve added. Very sporty!

Guess now's your turn, @NJ991? Great build. Not for me, but the fixed wing in Chalk looks ridiculously good! No interest in adding RAS?

Thanks, I was thinking about the red tach as well, but I’m afraid it’ll blend in with the redline too much. I wanted to leave that contrast on the tach. Yes, I am shooting for a sport look, instead of the luxury accents. I currently have a white 991.1 S, and it’s another color I would do again too.

I was waiting for someone to bring up RAS lol. I have mixed feelings about it, or maybe I need more seat time with it. I test drove a 991.2 GTS with it, and when driving it, it was very noticeable, yet I didn’t know the car was equipped with it initially. I said to myself this car has to have RAS, i then glanced at the window sticker and sure enough it was optioned with it. Now, it was interesting because the turning radius is really dialed up, and the car was extremely sensitive to my turns. It felt different, and kind of out of place for me. I see why people love it, but I honestly am just fine with the regular steering. Also, I think the steering feel in the 991.2 and 992 models are a little softer than my liking, but not terrible. But good question and I guess it makes me the only one that feels this way about RAS.

You’re not the only one ☝🏻

x2

Though my reasonings are more towards a purist point of view. Also a big follower of IMSA. 4-wheel steering is prohibited.

x3 even though I optioned RAS. Believe most share the same feelings about it; that it's different and neither better or worse with or without it. I only asked because you said you prefer the GT3 and thought you were going for a GT3 look. Since RAS is standard on a GT3 I'm surprised that you didn't like RAS.

Yes, it is standard, but the feeling of the GT3 and that NA engine, feels so much more glued to the ground, and it’s not as pronounced as it was in the GTS. Maybe it was me, but the feeling was different for me. Wasn’t as “loose” feeling. I’m just anxious and very excited to test drive a 992 manual once they are available. Not leaving any rock unturned and making sure I make the best choice I’ll be happy with.

Looking forward to seeing what you end up with NJ991! Can’t go wrong!
