PSE in the U.S & 18-Ways
My order in which will be locked soon, I had two questions I was hoping for some thoughts:
I don't care much for the regular exhaust tips visually. Thinking to spec PSE. Is the PSE as quiet as the regular exhaust when not switched on?
The dealer only had 14-way seats for me to test. My M2 seats hug more than the 14-ways (which I like). I'm 5'11 & 165, is there any reason why the 18-way would be less comfortable? This car will be DD and occasional long trips (3 hour drives). I liked the comfort of the 14, but I really like how my M2 keeps me locked in around the corners.
Thanks!!

PSE is marginally louder than the normal exhaust in Normal Mode. However, the difference is not so much noticeable, both are pretty loud. The PSE really cranks up the volume in SPORT mode only. I tested both seats, and the 18-way is hands down more snug and comfy in terms of keeping you locked in place. 18-ways was my choice in my build. The 14-Ways are nice, but are more suited to the comfort oriented style of the Panamera.

Get the PSE. It's very civil in normal mode and loud mode isn't that loud. Plus, if you're ever inclined to go aftermarket, all of the current solutions are for PSE-equipped cars.
If you've got the budget to do it, the 18 way seats on the 992 are the best bet due to their range of adjust-ability and holding capability. You can easily adjust them to fit any human frame.

I ordered the 14 ways as for this build I actually like the more comfort purpose seats and a. slightly sleeker look, but the 18s definitely hug more. FWIW, coming from 18 ways in almost every one of my 911s other than a 991,1 Gts which had the 14, which I loved. You won't go wrong here either way.

Aesthetically I liked the 14-ways better.. couldn’t get over the silver humpbacks on the 18’s

Yeah definitely go for the PSE because, as mentioned above, all the current aftermarket options are for PSE equipped cars; plus - it should be possible to change the bumper and tips for the quads for style reasons, yet you'll then still have the sound of the PSE.
18 ways for me too over 14 ways, mainly for adjustability. I also prefer the more pronounced shoulder region.
But both seats are brill!

If you are a gearhead don't buy any 911 without PSE. Unless you are going to put headers and open exhaust on it.
It uses or bypasses the muffler, depending on setting. Very useful at car events, for track and autocross, and at times in traffic when you need to tell the gal behind you looking at her phone that you are decelerating. She will hear the backfires when you downshift and that will break her trance at her phone.
PSE is also useful on the street when blipping the throttle at a light or when wanting to feel your oats. PSE even gets the attention of muscle cars and Harley guys next to you, especially with sport cats or cat delete pipes when in Sport or Sport+ mode!
And PSE is still very quiet when using the muffler, whether driving down your neighborhood street, on the interstate at high cruising speed, or when trying to be nice in front of a speed cop 🚔

I recently tried the Sport Plus 4-way seats at The LA Auto Show. They are the same as the 18 way seats, with less adjustments. I ordered them as I want quicker access for the back seats as the 18/14s take forever to slide forward. Love the snug fit they provide. I don’t understand why they have plastic backs, compared to the basic Sport seats (4/14ways) which have leather.

Everyone will have their own opinion, best bet is to try them out if you can
I had the 14 ways in 991.2 which killed my back after an hour, couldn't find an adjustment to make that better
18 ways in my 991.1 are much better, but for whatever reason I found the 991 4 ways in my GT3 to be the comfiest option (probably due to default setting as no adjustability options other than rake and forwards/backwards). I also liked the cost savings and lighter weight even if I wouldn't notice
Subjectively I also liked the sport seat plus looks with the more aggressive bolstering and hardbacks to the sport seat leather back, YMMV

The 18-ways are better than the 14-ways (to me), but I went with the 4-way sport seats plus. As you allude to, I will be driving this car 98% of the time and they felt great. Really locked in with the right amount of lateral support (both on the seat and shoulders) but super comfortable. No need to spend options $ on 18-ways based on how the seats feel to me, but I also don't do long, multi-hour drives where adjustments can make long trips more comfortable. And with regards to exhaust...man, this is a 911, get the sport exhaust; it will help with resale at some point too.

I’m one of those folks that finds the sports exhaust, well, exhausting and unnecessary. Neither of my previous 911’s had it and the manual coupe I’ve just ordered won’t either. It’s a personal choice, like pretty much all these questions.
