Default Test drove the 992, I've got a Seat question -

I currently have a 991.1 manual I purchased new and love it (it's not a daily driver), I was thinking of getting an additional car, I test drove the the 992S Coupe PDK ... it is a heck of a car though since everything is pretty much touch screen there is a lot to learn. So the first thing I realized is the 14 way power seat has been changed, it provides more side bolstering on the seat part (where your butt sits) but they have the seat back pretty far back.

So in other words your head is much further away from the headrest, you kinda have to lean back to get your head and back against the seat ... I would need to drive it again to see if I could get in a better drivers position. So my question is are you guys comfortable in this seat, I know on the 18 way power seat in the past it was too tight for me being I have broad shoulders but maybe the 992 the 18 way is different too ...

Otherwise, the power is awesome, they really improved the sound of the engine, much more beefy sounding then the 991.2 and the steering is AWESOME !! For electric steering you actually feel feedback and it is very tight. Overall it is a great car !!

The 992 18 way seats are different than the 991. I am very happy with them.

Same here. I decided on the available cars on the lot based on the 18w seats. Major improvement for daily and track use.

Same here - I tried out 14-way and 18-way seats on other Porsches and choose the 18-ways for my 992 as I like that ultimate adjustability (similar to the 20-way seats on my BMWs).

Absolutely love them - fit like a glove and very comfortable on a day I was driving for 5+ hours. Wife is 8" shorter than me than me and loves them too.

I have a seat question too. Why no love for the 4-ways? All talk about 18- or 14-ways, but no comparison to the 4-ways. I may be the only one who doesn't feel that the 4-ways aren't great. (And I'm not saying that from a purist-must-save-weight perspective, just that they are very comfortable and simple in a good way.) One of the only things I didn't sprinkle money on was for 14/18-way seat upgrades.

Im glad you posted this... I specced the 4way Sport Plus seats... primarily because we are expecting a little one this April (same time as I get my C4S). The 18ways and 14ways move so slow to get back seat access... glad to hear you like them! My dealer doesn’t have any 992s with 4way Sport Plus seats to try. Was beginning to wonder if it was a mistake. I have until January until my build locks.

If one has back issues the power options are a must, such as lumbar. I know what you mean though since the 4 ways I tested were more comfy than the 18 ways but I am one of those with back problems so 18s are the only way for me; I also like the aggressive bolsters and fit well in them.

To answer the OPs question though, you should be able to adjust the seat to where it needs to be for you. Did you try to adjust the back section more forward? Or tilt it? Keep in mind you can adjust the steering wheel as needed.

Because people think more expensive is better.

I need to spend more time with it to see if I could get a better seating position, I kind of rushed it because my original intention was to go and try out a Boxster they had, after that test drive I then asked if I could test drive the 992. I was surprised they actually changed the seat, my 991 has the 14 way power seat which I thought was perfect, i’m not sure why they changed the seat back angle so much on the 992 but I think it might just be one of those things where you need more time to just get it right.

I spent some time before purchasing my 991.2 comparing Sportex vs leather, 4-way vs 18-way Sports plus seats. I have little people too so getting in and out of the back seats quickly was a priority.
IMHO the 18-ways can be adjusted to a better fit than 4 ways but I've found that the new seats have been greatly improved with even more support around the thighs and shoulders.
I've always been a fan of Sporttex and in this iteration they have been greatly improved. Porsche certainly listened to feedback about staining, position of the cloth and lack of heated seating for which they should be commended. The quality is outstanding with a techy yet retro vibe around the check pattern. Go see one for yourself if you haven't already.

I'd love to spec the Sport-Tex for the reasons cited, but not available on the Sport Seats or with ventilation

You don't need ventilation with cloth. Cloth breathes much better than leather.

I couldn't agree more with this...I am opting for the 4-Way Power Sport Seat Plus on my Carrera S. Only $440.00 and I am not going to have to go OCD on the "perfect" seat position if I opted for the 18-way...and it's about $3,000 cheaper for me to use that money on other options.

Best seat option for the 992 is the Sports seats plus with the stunning Sport-Tex trim..Way more comfortable than full leather and warm in winter and cool in summer..Plus no sweaty backs on hot days..I also think they look much better than full leather.

They look just as good as my Sport-Tex seats in my Chevy 😋
