A $90k hit for 30k miles. Ooft, that’s brutal depreciation!

Cabs and base lose more.

Low interest rates, I went w/ financing. For me, lease has not presented to be advantageous with P-cars. Mostly due to a combo of residual and money factor. Low mile program is not an issue for me.
BMW, Audi and Mercedes are clearly in the car rental business. Porsche not yet with sports cars. Yet.

I don't care how much money I would lose but I will never buy Black, Silver or White since I personally do not care about resale, and I bet many more feel the same way. I buy cars for me, not the next person, and if anyone does otherwise you are not getting as much enjoyment as you should be.

Aventurine Green is way too popular to pose any kind of problem when it comes to resale. Lizard Green? No problem on a GT3. Lizard Green, Lava Orange, and Miami Blue are louder than what most Porsche Carrera buyers are looking for, but they are fine on the GT cars.

njcycleguy Is more or less spot on. I've done a lot of research on depreciation. The 1st model year will suffer the most with trends predicting the following:

MSRP: $122,540
Trade in after 1 year: $100,000 - $107,400
Trade in after 2 years: $88,900 - $95,200
Trade in after 3 years: $77,500 - $83,150

This assumes 5k miles a year. Worst case = $45k lost over 3 years. Best case = $38,000

You save around 10k by waiting a year, or even 9 months. it's really hard to find a lightly used car spec'd to your liking. I've seen a handful and they just weren't quite right and most of them were not in as good condition as they should have considering the low miles. The extra 10k is ensuring you get exactly what you want.

Oh yeh, leasing does give the benefit of not getting completely screwed should you get in an accident, even a minor one can tank the resale. Good luck getting a diminished value claim, it's not a fun ride.

Im a fan of gap insurance on pricey cars for this reason. I don’t remember how much it was but it was pretty reasonable. Makes the decision to purchase vs lease easier for me.

It cannot be stressed enough that condition is king when it comes to resale to a private party... trade in is a whole other game. I tend to over maintain and keep pristine my vehicles and I always get top $$ on my resale....

that said, this car is a decade car for me... I likely will not sell it at that point, but rather just replace it as my primary car and keep it as a 2nd car. It will be a single owner car until it passes on to my kids.

I cannot overstate the importance of service records -- perhaps, even more important than a clean/detailed car. When I sold my STI, it came with a binder of every service visit and every dollar on that car spent over nine years.
Driving logs are useful too, but I don't have the discipline to maintain one.:P

Whoa! Black is a desirable color for resale? That one is news to me. Swirl marks galore and shows everything. Some people also think silver is boring...

Aventurine green is a very desirable color on 992s...

Haha I find silver boring, and always had blue cars but on a Porsche it is classic! I ordered mine in silver

silver exterior and black / gray interior feels very Honda to me... can't see owning one like that.

Dolomite silver gets a bad rap- I think it looks good with the right wheels, and PCCBs.

Both of my wife's Honda Accords have been silver or white exterior with black interior. Nothing exiting at all..
