For common options, the S models are effectively a $140-150k cars. So, your build really isn't off base.
Unless you're going all Ronald McDonald with your choices, factory options aren't going to hurt resale. Yes, some depreciate more than others, but it's all good to get the car that you want.
Here's the top 20 most expensive VIN's in my data, if curious. 196k? Yup.

I was watching a video and something caught my attention at 41:30

The project engineer for the 911 (Mr. 911) states the only visual cue difference between the C2 and C4 is a different color rear grill?

Can anyone confirm what the difference is?

It’s sad to hear of his retirement now and the 992 is his last 911. But his legacy will live on!

The slats are all black on the C2, and black with silver/chrome top accents on the C4.

I'm right there with you. I picked my C2S today which had a sticker of $166K. Life's too short to not get what you want. Our local (DC) dealers tend to spec their C2S models in the $135K range.

From my data, the avg. C2S builds are$148,000, most expensive 4S (cab) I've seen is 197k. Ouch. VIN is: WP0CB2A97LS262381 - average 4S builds is around 157k. The most expensive 4S I've seen is 185k (VIN: WP0AB2A9XLS227020)

No matter where I try and skimp I end up with a build around 147-152k... which is a lot

but to be fair my 991.2 builds were always basically 143-148 so the difference isn’t insane, just expensive cars

I have been playing the “how expensive of a spec can I build?” game and haven’t been able to get to that. I presume that we’re not talking USD for $377k.

You can get a base Carrera up to about $197k if you just go nuts.

Just curious -- Why do you need others (never mind the internet) to validate your option choices? Just spec the car the way you like it and enjoy.

Yes, definitely not USD or US/NA market. If you broaden the game to include all International markets, I expect you can reach $500k+ for a C4S somewhere probably in Singapore or Malaysia.

Personally it's pretty simple. I can't just go and buy a $140k car without greatly considering and "validating" (maybe validating is the wrong term here) the various configurations in relation to each other, both to avoid spending too much and in order to avoid getting bummed out not having specced X or Y after placing the order. I use this data to verify/validate/soothe my own considerations of an option (eg. I love Night Vision tech.) in an attempt to keep costs down a bit -- I'm curious and find it interesting how these models are specced by other individuals - if you look at whole picture of 2000 VIN's, I have another overview than the sheet above, people are not that different; you just have individuals in-between who spec "what ever they want", most of which post their builds on this platform. I applaud this, however I need more thoughts around my build before actioning .

If the data above helps just one individual be content and happy about not picking option X or Y due to reasons, and is able to say "Hey, other's don't pick this one either so I'm probably fine!", the data served it's purpose. These kind of posts and questions appear to drive the majority of posts here, and thus I created the above to try and help out with that.

In the end I'll spec my build exactly how I want it of course, however I will have peace of mind and I won't regret my choices.

Thanks. It is interesting information. It will help folks new to the fold who are trying to figure out esoteric from true mass market options.
