Default Winter Tires

I live in the US northeast and plan to use my C4S as my DD. In a few months I plan to put a set of winter tires on the car. Tire Rack sells Pirelli Winter Sottozero Series II and Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 tires for the 992. I’m a fan of Michelin summer and all season tires but have no experience with winter performance tires. Does anyone have experience with either winter tire?

I used the SottoZeros on my winter rims and they were great in the snow and rain.

Both will be fine. But Sottozero II is a kind of old tread pattern... I'd be getting the Michelins

I've been running Michelin Arctic Alpin PA4's for years now and they've been great, even up here in Alaska. There's a new PA5, but it doesn't seem to be available in the right size yet for our cars. Does anyone if they'll be available any time soon?

I'm also curious to hear if the PA4 N1 is an improvement over the N0. My PA4 N0's are 4 years old and I'm going to get some new tires this winter.

I’ve run Michelin Alpins for years on my BMW wagons (AWD) and LOVE them.
Highly recommend.

I didn't realize I was posting in the 992 thread when I posted earlier. I actually have a 991.1 turbo with 20" wheels. Anyway, I just checked Tirerack's website and it looks like the new Michelin PA5's are available in sizes that'll work for the 992: 245/35R-20 and either 305-30R21 or 295-30R21.
