Default From Allocation to shipping.. a queation

So my dealer who already took a $10K deposit on my car told me today that the car will not go into production until mid October and is expected to get to them by December 15-20th... does this make sense? Assuming shipping takes 2 weeks, that's only 6 weeks to build the car... Does this sound about right? or should I be worried he might be playing around with allocations?

You have it backwards. 1 to 2 weeks to build. 4-6 weeks to ship.

Depends on a lot of variables though. East Coast or West Coast US? Roughly 4 weeks to East Coast, 6 to west coast. Porsche exclusive options also add build time. Some times they also sit in Emdem for a bit waiting for a ride.

Both of my Porsches took only one week to build and 4 weeks to ship. (East Coast).

Actual build time for a car is typically only 30-40 hours.

Thanks all... I guess I was just worried he's jerking me around... So he told me it goes into final build status (no changes) Mid October for Dec 12-20 arrival.

Did you get an email from Porsche; "track my dream" yet. it gives you the build date, when its on the boat, position during its ocean travel, port arrival and expected dealer delivery. May want to ensure you get that email.

Two ordered Porsches - both were at my dealer 6 weeks after production started.

according to him, the car doesn't go into production till mid October... so maybe that's when I would expect this email? or is it when I place the order?

I recieved my email 1 week after my order was placed. Some people aren't getting the emails though.

I got my email shortly after placing my order. My dealer had one spot left on a build allocation. I'd ask your dealer for some kind order # validation, then call Porsche USA directly.

I do have a document that has the exact build and breakdown of all the options and total price on it, the document is titled "Retail Build Sheet" and has "Vehicle Status: V200 Delivery date determined" and "Order Type: KF Customer Vehicle" on it..

The dealer generated the document, but it appears to be from Porsche in Atlanta GA

I do not... again, is that something I would get before the car goes into production?

Yes, you should have a commission number before the car goes into production. It's your car's identifier before you get the VIN.
