Knocking sound
I have an 992 Carrera S.
I have an knocking sound coming from the front end, i have checked the bump stops that comes with delivery. Porsche service has also runned with me, but doesent think i sounds odd. We were not able to force the same sound as a i get in my street at home. They also checked the car on a lift quick, but it dosent seems that anything was loose. But as soon as i came home drove on the same street i could hear it immediately Called the service center and told them. They told me drive a bit more and se if it gets worse .
The sound comes only at very low speed over small street bums with sharpe edge on them, it sounds a bit like an spring thats springs out if you know what i mean. Almost ike a car thats lowerd. I dont hear it on b roads tho
Any one else heard this ?

Tire pressures?
Is it getting colder there?
Does the car sit outside?
I think this is the "acorn" effect we talk about on the 991 Forum. Mainly do to the suspension geometry. In a nutshell (pun intended) your tires are skipping on slow full lock turns. You are perceiving it as a knocking sound.

I might have the same problem with my car. Have an apointment in 3 weeks for something else and wanted them to check this.
Just checking, is it just one knock you hear when going on and off a speed ramp? Sometimes I also have it when turning slowly in a parking place and there is some very small curb. But always one knock and I can not say where it is coming from, just somewhere at the front. You can not really hear it from the outside either.
Is that the same?

it annoys me quite a bit haha
about recording, I doubt you can capture it.
One thing I did notice, when I hit under my front bumper with my hand I do hear something “metallic” behind it which seems almost loose resting on the inside. I wonder if this is making the knocking sound. As in, it “jumps” on the bumper inside when going over a bump at just the right speed, if that makes any sense.

If you haven't sorted this yet, you might want to call Porsche about the safety recall on the 2020 911 Carrera S. I'm taking delivery in a couple weeks and hope they have this fixed BEFORE they hand me the keys.

I have an appointment booked 12/9 for a few minor things and will have them looking in to the knock aswell.
they will also do the driveshaft recall but I doubt this is it, since it is coming from the front.

I don't have a 992 - but that does not sound normal for any model. It sounds like something is loose and knocking around, but something that is still attached so it bounces around the same way with each bump. Did you play that recording for Porsche?
