More of a gimmick and not as useful as the original 3d configurator. What we need is at 2:40 here:

Agreed it could be better or more complete (adding more in-app customizations like deviated stitching etc).
But this is just version 1.0 - it will get better and the foundations of the app seems pretty good.

Seems like a lot of you are missing the option in the app to import a build from the website. Just did it and got to circle and go inside of my brand new car. Seemed pretty cool and useful to me

I don't see this as a substitute for a well done computer based configurator. Porsche seems to be going backwards with its PC configurator application. The old 3-D capability was useful and should have been improved, not deprecated.
The phone app is a terrific example of state of the art augmented reality tech -for the smart-phone. The novelty of selecting backgrounds, having motion and "transparency" are slick but have nothing to do with what can be great functional support for building a car to order with all the latest options available for real buyers to explore.

It took me a little while to get this working from the UK.
First you need to use the US configurator (UK codes are not recognised). Then i had to use a VPN to appear to be in the US for the US code to link to the US Porsche systems.
The end result is a curiosity but i thought pretty underwhelming. The colour rendition made the car in my living room look like a cartoon, and it doesn’t seem to support viewing the interior, dropping the roof or really doing anything that helps me pin down my spec.
Did i miss something.

Are you on a Huawei phone??
maybe i missed a trick but the app told me the codes i generated on the uk site were not recognised. Everything worked when i used the US site and a vpn ipaddress in the US.
